Randomly pulled off the highway from Pagosa for a bite and this place is top tier! Such an unexpected surprise. The space looks new or refurbished recently, the staff is fantastic and the food was really excellent. We had the bronzino (husband is European and he was happy) and of course the burger (we’re surrounded by cattle, come on). DELISH!! Highly recommend.
Oh and we even left with the apple handpie and scone to go because, second dinner 🙂

The shaggy sheep has delicious food and a cozy cute atmosphere. I’ve been here multiple times and while the menu is very limited, the food is quality and has come out really tasty and well cooked each time. There can be a wait during busy season, so thats something to consider but worth it. I do like that in an area that doesn’t have a lot of options nearby, this place has really good food. I’ll be returning the next time that I’m in the area. Give it a try, I think you’ll like it.

Stopped at the Shaggy Sheep for lunch. It was pretty busy bc of the people coming up the mountains before seeing the fall colors on
Guenella Pass. The location is right off the side of the road going south on 285. The venue is a rustic comfortable single story mountain dwelling. The inside is clean and inviting. The menu is simple and limited. But the food is good. No fancy presentation. Just good food served as it should be. However , the host and server were amazing ! If you can catch Corinne the host on her days there , she’s a sweetheart. You’d swear she was kin like the kind you feel like you have to hug when you say hi or goodbye or it doesn’t feel right. Our server was Marty. She has a southern accent if you hear her speak long enough. She was very sweet, very quick , and very considerate. There are tables , both regular height and bar height that you can sit at. Or you can sit at the bar and eat too. Since it was pretty busy they were asking people if they were willing to share their table . Which sounded like a great opportunity to meet people. But we were able to have our own table. There are desserts you can take home with you or eat there. The scones and pies are baked there and delicious. They also have cookies too. Of you eat it there they will warm it up for you and add ice cream. So I did both. I had the pumpkin pie , warmed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And I had two scones to go. I chose the burger and requested no pink. It was juicy and delicious. You can add extras to your burger. Marty recommended the fries. They were thick and delicious. I gave one less star on the food for my rating. Not bc anything was wrong. Bc it was delicious , warm , and what it should be. Just the presentation wasn’t pretty just suffice. Normal. But it was delicious and right. However , the chicken sandwich could have been better (more meat and a bigger patty ). There’s a bathroom near the counter. If you use the paper towel dispenser , touch it right behind the ribbing in the underside center to work. Also there are merchandise available and on display for sale.

Like others said, it is a small menu but done with great care. The side of supe i got was made completely in house, I asked about the broth and they said they made it. This devotion to their to their trade and attention to detail is what is lacking in most establishments. This is the kind of resturant I’d be happy to pay to make food for me. God bless them!

Holy cow! Literally! The best burger I have had in Colorado and I’ve lived here for 20+ years. I live over an hour away and I will definitely be back. The shaggy sauce is to die for! I would have posted a picture of the handheld pie and scone, but I ate them and they were delicious, sorry not sorry.

Great breakfast. Best, most attentive and friendly, staff ever. Cute inside and out. Very clean and well stocked. Meals, pastries, retail goods and more. You really should stop in and check it all out. Airstream snack shack outside main building too!

We’ve been to The Shaggy Sheep several times and always have the best experience! The food is great and the staff is amazing and always makes us feel like we are part of their community. Make sure to try their biscuits and gravy, a Bloody Mary, and any of their sweet treats!!

We stopped in for a small bite between lunch & dinner. A great cup of beef stew warmed us as we sat near the fire. Their pastries are amazing we took several things to go. Very nice service and great atmosphere.
