Food is mediocre. They take really long to acknowledge you are waiting to place an order and take even longer to bring your food. We have gone twice to order the daily specials and both times have been charged full price. The first time I challenged it, the second, my daughter ordered and paid and I caught it on my receipt. It’s a cute concept but don’t go if you are hungry cause it takes really long. Food is nothing special, really high prices.

I want to start by saying that I absolutely love valley farms, I’ve been coming for many years I would get cooked hot food inside before reopening the shack kitchen. I was very excited to try the Hawaiian island vibes this past Saturday good on social media looked good . Get there see the prices and see it’s a bit steep but figured waited this long and said it’s alright. Went and ordered 2 plates, spam musubi, coffee and a canned soda 60.33was the total amount though again was a bit steep on price but still got it anyways. Grab the food and head to a park to sit down and enjoy the food to my surprise imwhen I opened up the container insanely small portions in both for what was paid and they also forgot my order of spam musubi. I honestly don’t leave reviews unless it’s bad bad and for what was spent that day it was kinda of overpriced and so generic in taste flavor and portion not happy with rice the spinach salad was like something half done and the chicken was ok. I can honestly say I wouldn’t attend a special weekend event on food after this. Totally bummed me out on that. I did have to go back and get my super lame spam musubi rice was dry and they did give a small container of food to make up for what happened but still 50$ in food minus the drinks was not it could’ve gone else where for food that day.

Disappointed. I came today around 12:30pm, I eat here often and my go to is the 6 bbq pull pork sliders & green chili mac n cheese. I made my online and was there before they were ready, which fine I don’t might waiting. I got home and my sliders had a drop of bbq sauce and the Mac n cheese was dry. I live down the street so it shouldn’t be that dry. Usually it’s always good, just not this time.

We got the Carne Asada tacos, the Tri-tip sandwich, and the McConaughey Tuna Melt sandwich. The tacos and tri-tip sandwich were excellent. They had a fair portion of tasty, juicy, tender, lean meat. The tuna melt was on toasted white bread, with very little tuna. The taste was good, but the portion was too small for the price. We will not order it again. We look forward to coming back to try the pollo asada, tri-tip, and pulled pork tacos.

I smoke a lot of brisket and come here fairly often to get a pretty tasty brisket. However, today wasn’t what I expected. Bought a pound of brisket that was a little pricey but, comparable to most other places. They did a terrible job trimming the brisket. I weighed what was inedible and out of 16 oz. 7 oz was straight fat. Not strands of fat, huge thick lines of fat. More fat than half the meat. Super disappointing. Do better, I know you can. I’ve eaten your brisket many times and this one was the worst. Teach your meat department to trim a brisket correctly.

Missing the cole slaw from the BBQ pulled pork sandwich; missing the “umami onions” from the smashburger. The burger meat was good but otherwise the burger was unexceptional. Fries were ok. Shack Website doesn’t load for online ordering; they won’t take an order on the phone. The 2 people in front of me also had mistakes with their orders. Love VFM but the young lady at the shack seems out of her depth unfortunately and we won’t be back to the shack. Advertised 4 types of tamales; only 2 available. Advertised holiday eggnog shake- not available. Come on guys. You’re better than this.

We got the pulled pork sandwich and the baja bowl and they were both tasty! The pork sandwich came with fries and extra bbq which was nice.

Thought I’d try this place since it was recommended by “San Diego Feed” on instagram. The smash burger I received looked nothing like the one promoted. Burger was missing the advertised onions as well. You only get two small pickle slices on the side and bbq sauce for your cold french fries. Website does not work either. I had high hopes but it was just blah. The girl at the window seemed distracted as well. Several people came back while I was waiting complaining of incorrect orders. I’d stick to the BBQ or just drive a little further to Charlies for a decent smash burger.

The Shack is one of my current favorite barbecue spots. They have good daily deals, and pretty reasonable prices considering some of the portion sizes
Huge fan of their Tuesday Taco deal, and several of their sandwiches: Bird is the Wird, Nashville Chicken Hot, and their breakfast sandwiches SMACK
…be prepared to wait if it is busy.
Maybe considering downloading the app “Toast” and ordering ahead of time if you’re more on the impatient side or, maybe just on a time-crunch/30 min lunch-break.
Nonetheless, if you have the extra time and money to spare, The Shack is worth every penny! Oh, wait, those are going obsolete… worth every nickel!
