First time back in like 6-7 years and still enjoy it! The catfish was so fresh and tender, and tasty (bit too salty for me but it’s personal taste). The fried chicken always do the job for me. This time I got green beans and had to order an extra one. The green beans really reminded me of Luby’s green beans. The service was impeccable. Also the added satisfaction of supporting local small business versus the big chain.

The Serving Spoon is an iconic black owned family business located in Inglewood. This place I admire the energy of all the amazing Black people that were there on Mothers day. When we arrived we were greeted by some Professional handsome young men who gave my wife some beautiful roses. This business has been here for 40 years. Now lets get to the food… We ordered Salmon Croquette with Yams, black eyed peas, string beans, cornbread, catfish nuggets. We paid $65.00 and to be honest the food just wasnt up to par. Thankfully they take EBT. TAKE OUT ONLY. They only gave me 2 salmon, I asked if he could possibly add 1 more since we paid so much and the manager said no. The green beans, Black eyed peas even the greens didnt have any seasoning and was very watery. Although the service was great the food just didnt match up to the price. Overall though I appreciate this Amazing Black Owned Restaurant. Make sure you support!

The service was amazing from the time we walked in the door to the time we were ready to go, The food was excellent. I had the hot link breakfast with scrambled eggs with cheese, smothered potatoes, and french toast. The atmosphere was like a down south family type of feel. The music was on point, and you really need to experience it. I was so excited about this experience, and I will do it all over again.

This restaurant is black cuisine at its finest! Delicious food and exceptional customer service. About the food—every single morsel was some of the best I’ve had. Let me focus on some of the highlights. The home fries are incredible. Very savory and so well seasoned. Absolutely could’ve been satisfied with just eating that. I would highly recommend them. The French toast though? Crazy delicious! A must have. As mentioned, everything was delicious but those two items were the superstars. My very picky and hard to please son had the veggie omelette and gave it a perfect 10. My daughter had the catfish with a waffle, and added a side of bacon and fries and gave everything a perfect 10. Now…about the service—the service here was so exceptional, it truly should be the standard for all restaurants to live by. Our waitress was phenomenal, very knowledgeable, and very attentive. Overall, this will not be our last visit and I would highly recommend paying this local gem and landmark a visit. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I would absolutely return here. Looks like prices are going up here soon! The service was wonderful and the food was very delicious – made with love. We ate inside and they were very busy. I watched my food sit at the window for at least 5 minutes. By the time I received it, it wasn’t hot which isn’t ideal. But the flavors were still there. I would get the shrimp and grits any day. The ham was thick cut and excellent.

I have two complaints. First, it appeared as though you get the best food if you come before 1:30 pm. It also seemed like they were running out of food. My second and main concern was how we were treated. There was not enough parking for disabled people. We arrived at 1 pm, but we had to park over a block away. When we finally arrived and signed in at 1:21 pm, we were then told that we were not guaranteed to be seated because they stopped serving at 1:30 p.m., even though they advertised that they closed at 2 pm. So that we did not have to leave and go back into the hot 90-degree sun to our car, we opted to sit at the bar instead of a table. It was very uncomfortable, but it was all they had. This is not the type of experience I was expecting to have there. In a mean way, they were letting us know that they do not cater to people with disabilities. If you want to have a decent experience at their establishment, park and sign in well before 1 pm.

Came from Wilmington, DE cause I heard about this place. Amazing Food, Amazing Service, and they even let me do some impromptu comedy for the guests. There was an hour wait, but it was worth it. You can clearly tell why this establishment is a staple in the community.
