Went to The Service Station over the weekend and had a good experience. It was pretty slow inside, we were the only table the entire time we were there. I think they may have bee getting a fair amount of pickup / DoorDash orders though. They have a pretty big menu; I got the pork sandwich and my husband got the bbq platter. Everything was really good. The Mac and cheese was cold, but the flavor was good despite the temperature. Service was attentive. Our bill was $81 after tip for the entrees plus an order of fried pickles appetizer, which I felt was a bit high for bbq but the platter my husband ordered was a good portion of the bill. It wasn’t the BEST bbq I’ve ever had, but still good and I’d recommend!

This was my 1st time dining here and its a nice, small, laid back spot. The young lady taking my order was very bubbly and personable. It wasn’t busy when I went so the food didn’t take long to come out and everything was piping hot. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, the philly egg rolls, and the BBQ ribs dinner with sweet potatoes and greens. The Philly egg rolls were nice and crispy but gave me more of a hamburger vs philly cheeses steak taste. Maybe more cheese, onions and bell peppers would’ve helped. The fried green tomatoes were nice and seasoned and crispy but a lot of the batter came off after picking it up or biting it. The ribs were super tender but I could’ve did without the extra added thick BBQ on the top (personal preference). I just like my sauce cooked into the meat other than that I would’ve really enjoyed them. The greens were good but them sweet potatoes were nasty. They were giving canned flavored so I wouldn’t order those again. The prices were reasonable andthe portions were good so I’d go again and try other items on their menu next time

My boyfriend and I decided to get the BBQ platter, because it comes with ribs, half a chicken, pulled pork and 2 sides! The smoked chicken was super tender and juicy and had a really nice smoky flavor to it! I got the Mac and cheese and it was really cheesy and flavorful. I wanted the greens, but they were out. But all in all, great service, great experience! One of Louisvilles best black owned restaurants!

This place is a gem. The food was delicious and the fries were banging with that seasoning. I also love that they use mixed greens on the burgers instead of iceberg lettuce, I will have to get extra bacon next time because you only get one slice. Lolol. Service was great, food came out in a decent time and “hot”! Will definitely be back.

Food was amazing! I really liked the pulled pork, burger, and fries. My girlfriend loved the fried tomatoes, burger, and homemade cheddar grits. I would definitely come back. Our waitress and staff were friendly and attentive. Great prices. We always try to find local restaurants when visiting new places. This is definitely a hidden gem.

This was my first experience at this restaurant and I plan to be back for more delicious goodness. The Fried Green Tomatoes really whet my appetite for when the Shrimp & Grits arrived which was hands down the best I have ever eaten. Though the portions weren’t extremely large, the quality made up for it. This restaurant though fairly small should be packed with people and definitely this needs to expand into other areas of the city, state, region & country so that everyone can experience these delicacies that were hand delivered by the sweetest and nicest server around. Keep up the great cooking & service! You are definitely a gem in this town.

Nice little hidden place here in Louisville. Ribs fall off of the bone and a prices are good. Smoker going on out back so the meat is definitely fresh!

The service was good, they’re very nice, sweet, and quick when it comes to checking in on us. The vibes are also very good, nice seating, etc. However, the food is 50/50. The appetizers, like the fried pickles are fantastic and so is the jalapeno ranch, but the steak and meatloaf are both very tough and chewy. Mac and cheese very creamy, but no seasoning. Mashed potatoes are the same way. Sadly i cant give the food more than a three.

There were ample parking spaces on the lot adjacent to the facility.
It was clean but it was hot inside.
There were two 1-stall clean restrooms.
The barbecue platter was good. My son didn’t like the seasoned fry that much. Too much seasoning, he said. I think the onion rings was cooked too long.
1 appetizer, 1 bbq platter, 1 chicken strips, 2 drinks, $68 including tip.
Service was great!
Bon Appétit

As a local BBQ restaurant, I will admit I had higher expectations ordering here.
We got the BBQ platter, they were out of ribs, so we asked for extra chicken and pork.
The pork was pre-mixed with the BBQ sauce, and reminded me of the premade stuff you buy at the store. I also prefer the pork come as pulled pork and let me add as much sauce as I would like ; so it just depends if you like your pulled pork pre mixed like this.
The Mac and cheese didn’t have a lot of flavor, and the sweet potatoes were a miss as well. I think the coleslaw was great. I also thought the Mac was a little too soft.
The cornbread muffins were dry.
The dinner was pork and chicken, and the chicken came in the style of chicken wings that were very cooked and not very moist. The flavor of the wings was good tho, and they were crispy.
We did get the salad as well and that was really good.
I would not come back here.
