We really like it here. Saturday buffet is good. Salad bar is always fresh with plenty of good toppings. My wife likes the catfish, and the fried chicken instantly takes me back to my grandmother’s kitchen in Kentucky. Yams and okra are good. Friendly staff and fellow customers. We’ll drive 45 minutes from Alabaster on a weekend when we just want some good Southern food.

When we came in the atmosphere was great but that changed fast. We ordered without any issues but when the food came out the waitress brought my daughter a finger sandwich instead of the finger plate and asked if she could just eat it instead. We said no and she said there were two left over tenders the cook dropped that she would bring out for her to eat while remade her order. She never brought them. 30 mins later my husband was done and i was almost finished and they finally broughther order. No apologies, no discount for the mix up just a “here ya go” and she walked away. Her bacon cheese fries which we paid almost 5.00 extra for was cold shredded cheese and Baco-bits from the salad bar! Pics included. Never coming back again. Accidents happen but the indifference of the staff is unreal. The only saving grace to avoid 1 star, was the phillys and hushpuppies were good and on the way out we complained again to another staff member and she took off two fry orders which we thought came with the philly to begin with but were extra. She said she took off the baco bit charge but didnt.

I’d say a solid middle of the road for this area. Maybe below average on the restrooms though.
Food is ok for the lunch buffet. The hungrier you are the better it will taste.
I’ve heard it was good. But maybe better in years gone by.
I’ll probably not be coming back…unless I’m real hungry …headed south gotta wait till Thomasville. Headed north…just wait it out
Yeah…just wait it out

The simple pleasures in life are sometimes the best. The Sawmeal Restaurant is one of these. Every visit is like going back in time to simpler days. I have never got anything but the buffet but I’ve always enjoyed. The salad bar is especially good with lots of options. We drive 35 miles to eat here and it’s worth it

I order fried catfish fillets, and this is what they served. Straight up frozen fish sticks from Walmart. My daughter had the hamburger, which was the frozen flower shaped garbage. This place has completely fallen.

This is just for the buffet. HORRIBLE, order from the menu it might be ok. BBQ meat taste like boiled roast, vegetables were from a can with added salt etc, fish was greasy. Salad bar was good, fresh and enough toppings. Price was $33.14 for 2 buffet and 2 teas, server set the tea down and disappeared, we couldn’t eat it. Wasted the money however now we know not to go back. Disappointed.

My family has been eating here for as long as I can remember. Birthdays, funerals, games, it’s become a tradtion to have their teriyaki chicken. All these years and we have never had any issues, that is until we did . Our recent purchase of chicken looked, smelled and tasted burnt. We called immediately to explain that 75% of the chicken were burned and they said they would cook us another platter. So we drove all the way back & were then told they were not burned. They said it was because of the teriyaki sauce and the next ones would be the same. We were then told, if we wanted to return them we were going to have to pay for the new ones. I was in shock to say the least. They were most definitely burnt & we’ve all had them enough to know that. But that’s irrelevant really, because when a customer isn’t happy with the food they receive, you make it right. Just because they give you a phone number that isn’t local, you don’t lie to them and then tell them the solution is to pay another $64.00 to fix your mistake. This is how they treat life long customers? I’m beyond disappointed. My family has spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here over the years and to be done this way is a horrible feeling. They thought I was from out of town and didn’t know any better. It doesn’t take years of buying the same item again and again to know when something is not right. I’m sure people have had many good experiences here but one should hope they don’t have a bad one when this is how they conduct business and treat people. Be cautious of buying from here because you are taking a risk. If they make a mistake, you might be out of your hard earned money and who can afford that these days?

(BTW, my uncle told me that they always open the tray and have you check them before you leave, but they didn’t do this with me, why is that? And shouldn’t they have taken them back since they didnt do this? If I had seen and smelled them beforehand I wouldn’t have left with them and if I had, then that would have been on me, not them.)
