If you’re someone who likes variety at breakfast, the Sunday buffet is a really good deal. I enjoy having multiple breakfast items, and that kind of variety usually gets expensive if you order à la carte at other restaurants. Because of that, the buffet feels like a huge savings. Everything on the buffet was hot and well stocked. The biscuits are more like canned, layered biscuits, but they’re still good. We especially liked the gravy, biscuits, sausage patties, bacon, chicken strips, pancakes, and hash browns. The eggs were standard scrambled eggs and mixed in well with everything else.
The only awkward part of the buffet is getting to it. You have to walk down a narrow hallway past the kitchen, which can feel a little uncomfortable when people are passing each other. Because of that, I’d recommend sitting in the buffet area if possible—it just makes things easier.
On our third visit, we tried the burgers and sandwiches, and they were really good. The burger reminded me of a classic drive-in style burger. I ordered the mushroom Swiss, and while it was solid, I wish they offered an aioli or more savory mayo option. That said, it was still very good with the mayo packet they provide. The bun was pillowy soft, the burger was tender, and it held together well without falling apart.
My fiancé ordered the pork tenderloin and said it was good, though I can’t speak much on it myself. The fries were cooked well. One small downside for me was the upcharge for choosing a side other than chips. Chips work fine with a sandwich, but for burgers, I wish there were more included options unless the restaurant makes their own chips. That’s more of a personal preference than a dealbreaker.
Overall, we’ve really enjoyed the food and have already been back several times. I can definitely see us returning. With the current cost of eating out, this place feels like a good value—especially the Sunday buffet. The gift card deal they’re running is also a nice bonus.
The burger I ordered was made with what appeared to be unseasoned, frozen patties that lacked any depth of flavor. The buns tasted inexpensive and slightly stale, and the toppings seemed carelessly assembled. Equally disheartening was the portion of fries—approximately twelve in total—which cost an additional $4 on top of a $10 burger. For a party of three adults and two children, all ordering water, the final bill exceeded $80 after gratuity.
To be fair, my wife reported that her turkey club was passable, though unremarkable, while the chili I ordered bore all the hallmarks of being poured directly from a can. The disparity between the cost and the quality of the food was striking, especially when the fare more closely resembled gas station cuisine than a sit-down diner experience.
I will say, their buffet brunch looked quite good, but due to the timing of our arrival, I didn’t want to chance eating the food that had probably been sitting since an hour or two prior.
In its current state, I can see this restaurant may struggle to sustain itself unless it brings the caliber of its food in line with its pricing. A more thoughtful approach to preparation and ingredient quality could make this a local gem, but regrettably, my experience fell far short of that potential.
Always wonderful staff, and the food is tasty!
The food is amazing North American cuisine. Featuring surprisingly awesome choices on the menu. I’ll let you come to the place yourself and see.
Remodeled and better than ever. You can often find the owner inside making the food.
