TLDR: Worst of the Sequoia resturants, will not be returning (updated).

Visited around 4pm on Sept 22, 2025.

The good: The sashimi was great, signature wok squid was good, I thought the crab and artichoke dip was okay but friends thought otherwise. I forgot what the dessert was but it’s a coconut caramel seasonal cake of sorts, really enjoyed that. General food presentation is okay too. The interior looks nice and the outdoor seating seabreeze is pretty good although the chairs weren’t the most comfortable.

The bad: Sesame Crusted Albacore Tuna was dry and flavourless, as was the roasted mushrooms. Oysters are not cleaned properly (though I’m not sure if they normally are supposed to be, sand aside it tastes okay, I’m no connoisseur). On the theme of sand, our clam chowder also had sand in it (had 3 sips, got sand twice), the server said they’d strike it from our bill. We weren’t given a chance to order a replacement or anything else before they took it and left. The server was friendly and conversational but we’d prefer a good food focused dining experience above all else.

The ugly: We had another event to run to after so we didn’t check the bill at the end, but upon later review, it turns out we were charged for the clam chowder anyway.

Update: The manager reached out and refunded the clam chowder. More refunds were offered for some other dishes but were not taken since they were finished.

Everything in the moment was great— server was funny and nice, the food looked good and tasted good, and the views are spectacular.

The problem was when we came home. Both of us were so sick— nauseous and got real familiar with the toilet — from the food. Couldve been a one off but I wouldn’t recommend! Such a shame since it was the highest rated place in the area and pretty expensive.

Had oysters here for lunch and it was a great experience overall. We tried a mix of West Coast and East Coast oysters, and the quality was very consistent.

The West Coast oysters were especially impressive — plump, clean, slightly sweet, and nicely briny without any off flavors. The East Coast oysters had a more pronounced mineral profile, which made the contrast really enjoyable.

Everything tasted very fresh, and the differences between the oysters were clear and well-presented. We also ordered fish, which was well prepared and complemented the meal nicely.

Service was smooth and professional. Overall, a solid spot for oysters with great quality and balance.

Dropped by for a lunch with some friends. Has a great atmosphere with a beautiful view on the patio upstairs. Overall the food was pretty good but felt the poke fell a bit flat in terms of any flavor. Would return again to try a few different items on the menu.

Sushi tower comes with really rusty metal frame. Red rust was rubbing off everywhere and it just didn’t feel too healthy to have that around food.
Otherwise the food was great. Oysters were really fresh and the pumpkin sticky toffee pudding was The Best!!!

I really wanted to visit this place with a beautiful view… but other than the pretty picture, I didn’t get any pleasure.
The food was tasteless. I ordered burrata with prosciutto and received a Costco set.
The fries were boiled, not fried.
The mussels were with coconut milk, but this wasn’t indicated in the dish description.
The only thing that was tasty and memorable was the squid.
The service? Also, not everything was great. They mixed up the dish we ordered, and then something we didn’t order appeared in the light. Everything was fixed, but it was unpleasant.

The Sandbar does have a way of leaving one rather well-looked after. This was my second visit and once again the service was attentive to the point of being the true highlight. The food itself is sound, fresh and competently prepared, though it lacks that elusive spark that makes one sit up and say good heavens, that was brilliant. Still, when a restaurant treats you properly and ensures you’re comfortable from start to finish, one forgives the absence of fireworks on the plate. In short, steady cooking paired with exceptional service makes for a respectable return.

I was helping out with a photo booth for a Christmas party at Sandbar and was very impressed with the overall experience! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, and the staff were so friendly and polite! Huge shoutout to Captain Tommy and his team for the outstanding customer service! I will definitely be returning!

We came here for lunch and decided to sit in patio. We can see the sea view while enjoying our meals. We ordered their fresh oysters and truffle fries as app. Then Pan Seared Arctic Char, Linguine Vongole, and Eggs Benny as the main menu. I love their fish, which is crispy on the skin and soft inside. The oysters are outstandingly fresh! Service was great and atmosphere is cozy.

Happy we dropped by for a snack here because we quite liked the food here! It was quite spacious and had nice live music. The clam chowder was pretty good but could’ve had more seafood in it, the mussels were flavourful, and the bread was warm and chewy. It was also interesting to try the buck a shuck oysters. Service was mostly good, though sometimes hard to get a hold of like when we were missing a spoon or wanted to order more. Would return for a full meal if I visit again
