In our experience, the atmosphere felt more farm-to-table casual than romantic. We were definitely overdressed for the vibe. The lighting was brighter than expected, and the space was a bit louder than we had anticipated. We were seated at a small table across from each other, which isn’t our favorite setup for a date.
For food, we started with the Pistachio Whipped Feta. The portion was generous and great for sharing, but we found the bread provided wasn’t quite enough for the amount of spread. We ended up ordering additional bread, which came at an extra charge. Flavor-wise, it was good, though not particularly memorable for us.
For our main courses, we both ordered the snapper. It was prepared well, but my partner didn’t love the flavor profile — likely just a matter of personal preference. I had originally planned to order the steak au poivre, but unfortunately they had sold out by 8pm, which was disappointing since that dish was one of the main reasons we chose the restaurant.
Overall, The Salty Zebra is a nice spot with a thoughtful, curated menu. It just wasn’t quite the romantic experience we had envisioned. That said, the service was truly excellent, attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the evening. While we appreciate the concept and the smaller menu approach, it was a bit disappointing not being able to order the dish we had specifically come in for.
The servers were attentive, friendly, and professional, making sure every guest was well taken care of without ever feeling rushed. The bar staff also did an amazing job keeping drinks flowing and customizing cocktails for our group.
We’re so grateful to the management and the entire team for helping make the evening such a wonderful experience for our family and friends. If you’re looking for a place to host a special event—or just enjoy a great meal in a great atmosphere—The Salty Zebra is the perfect choice!
Chef Michael and server Mickela both went above and beyond on both the food and services. Thank you for making a regular night to a night tha we can talk about.
We had a burger, delicious.
Lamb ragout – superb
Brussel sprout- amazing
Ambiance – calming and coastal clean
We had the escargot that was a little salty for my taste and chef Michael compensate with a dessert on the house. The dessert was so top notch. Thank you for going out of your way.
Will come again and will bring family and friends.
Also really, really love that they source everything locally and tell you exactly where it’s coming from. So many places shovel out slop from CBI or Sysco, it’s nice to support a local restaurant that supports local farms. You will taste the difference, and I enjoy knowing that I can trust what I am putting in my body.
We were a group of 5, ordered a few apps, entrees and dessert, and every single dish was delicious! You can feel the quality of the ingredients and the passion/love that is put into their food. On top of that, chef came and check on the table a couple times and even treated us with his new creation for dessert.
Natalie M, our server was amazing, very friendly, attentive and accommodating. She even brought out a birthday dessert with a candle for my husband.
Thank you all for making us feel so special, we will definitely come back!
I went with the special: Tile fish with celery broth and celery purée. I’ll be honest—when I heard “celery, celery, celery,” I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. I was wrong. Completely wrong. It was amazing. The chef personally came out to present the dish, pour the broth tableside, and walk me through how it all came together. I’ve never had anything like it. The flavors were delicate but deep, and somehow that celery transformed into something elegant and balanced.
And then… dessert. I rarely order dessert, but I’m so glad I did. A pumpkin mousse inside an encrusted shell with warm apples and cinnamon (I’m probably butchering the ingredient list, but you get the idea). Whatever was in it, it was absolutely incredible—one of those desserts you keep thinking about long after the plate is cleared.
If you haven’t been to The Salty Zebra yet, you’re missing out. This place is doing something special.
