Staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious! We enjoyed the chips & salsa while our food was being prepared, it had great flavor. I had the Tacos Al Pastor, which were fantastic, and my wife had the spicy shrimp bowl, both were delicious! The Salty Steer is a great addition to the downtown restaurant options, will definitely be going back.

I know this place is still new and getting everything lined out. But their staff was truly a bunch of young 20 somethings that wanted to chit chat to each other loudly in the corner. We were not checked regularly to have drinks refilled or to see how our food tasted. When noticing an odd charge on the bill, the waitress got very defensive about it, rather than being polite and saying what it was or that it would be taken care of.
Most people at my party said the food was decent. I had the jalepeno popper grilled cheese. It wasn’t even edible. The cheese wasn’t melted. The part that was supposed to be the jalepeno popper was just cream cheese with sliced jalepenos on it… needless to say, I didn’t eat it and was very disappointed.
I’m hoping that over time, it will improve. I’m willing to update my review if warranted.

The Salty Steer hasn’t been open very long. Don’t let this deter you from enjoying the food. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste.

My husband was wanting to try this place after seeing the commercial on TV. We were greeted at the front door by a very charming young lady. The new decor is beautiful. Our waitress was extremely attentive and very personable. The chips and salsa were delivered first by a very nice young man. The tacos were outstanding. We met the manager, Kris, and this guy knows how to take care of business. He recommended Taco Tuesday. That is my only day off so we’ll be there! 2pm is a great time to go there.

Went for dinner here Oct 2 with my parents. Was not impressed. Tortilla chips were stale, informed server, she brought a new bowl that she said came out of a different bag. Clearly they are not made in house, no big deal, but whomever food service you are using to provide your chips should do better. Salsa was VERY good!
Ordered the taco platter with ground beef, I assumed they would be crispy Tacos but they were served on cold Tortillas. Server did not ask if we wanted crispy or soft so maybe it isn’t an option. Refried beans came in a ramekin and they were not hot. My mom had her beans on her plate with her order and they weren’t hot either.

Came in with low expectations and was very surprised, chips and salsa were great the chips weren’t to stale as they tend to be at other places, server appeared to be fairly new and they were also very busy when we had first came in but we were tended too and taken care of. David (dave?) Did great. Plenty of options on the menu the mac and cheese on the side is to die for. Only issue was the bread that came with our Pastas was not very good but the bread on the kids grilled cheese was fine, my daughter loved it.

First Waitress had entirely too much perfume on which took your breath away; not what I came there for. Second Waitress was attentive and polite, no issues there. The Food: HORRIBLE. Tacos had old well cooked over several days Pork and Beef. Rice was good. Not at all impressed with what I had been told previous to coming here, our first visit. We usually give any restaurant a second chance but not when it comes to serving Meat that should have been tossed. They knew they did it and that’s why we won’t be back.

One of the poorest meals I’ve ever had. The chips and salsa were merely ok. The menu while extensive served to indicate that they specialize in nothing. I ordered the enchiladas. We waited about an hour to get our food. The enchiladas were barely warm, drenched in cold queso and were wrapped in a soft tortilla. Unable to eat much of our meal we ordered dessert hoping to redeem the experience. The desserts came out at least 15 minutes apart and were not worth waiting for.

Phenomenal restaurant! Great service and food was excellent quality. Extremely affordable and not overpriced like most Tex mex places. Disregard those old reviews, they’ve got this figure out! We will definitely be back.
The kids meal was ample! We fed both kids and the tenders were wonderful!
