I got to taste scallops and lobster for the first time which came with the seafood mixed grill (the 1/2 Lobster was added) and for sure did not disappoint, I would highly recommend this platter for 2-3 people. I have had Lobster again since elsewhere and I can say The Salt Room has got it going onnn .
We got the Lemon tart to share for dessert which was divine, and because of we were celebrating they surprised us with some chocolate truffles which melt in the mouth and leave you mesmerised.
The cocktails were 10/10
A rather lovely place with a nice atmsophere, the whole experience is a must!!
All went really quick.
Price was high.
And if I want to tip the staff or waiter?
I am very well capable to decide that on my own!
A mandatory service charge is not what I want.
Really do not like that!
I decide for myself and as a tourguide I know how it works.
Nor an automatically added Love Food Share Donation.
I did not ask for that.
Nor dit anybody mention this to me.
Not that I do not want to pay it, but why did nobody explain it to me?
A Dover Sole for 80 UK pounds or 93 Euro is also a bit over the top.
Especially if we ask for an entire fish and it will be fileted by the waiter.
He did not do a proper job, too many herringbones still in it.
And not a lot of fish for that amount of money.
One glass of housewine is 10,50 pound.
A martini is 13,50 pound.
Overall it was more expensive, too quick and cold at the window.
Expected more.
Too bad.
The food was excellent- best scallops I’ve ever had. Finished with a delicious Old Fashioned cocktail. I would recommend the food here. Different options to suit too. Lovely!
The decor is elegant and refined, not too fancy. The welcome on arrival by the maitre d was warm and friendly. He really went out of his way to make our kids feel welcome too.
The service was attentive and helpful without being too much. Special shout-out to Kerri for being the star of our show.
The food selection was heavy on the seafood, with some fantastic meat and veggie options too.
Highlights included the seaweed butter with the bread, the sauces/ broth with the mussels. The shared a whole fish and a rib eye steak between three and it was all cooked to perfection.
Dessert did not disappoint, and the salted caramel tart did the business and they made a special point of my wife’s birthday.
I would highly recommend The Salt Room for a special dining experience.
On their advice, we ordered the monkfish to share, served with mussels and moqueca sauce. It was simply gorgeous – beautifully cooked and full of flavour. To finish, we had the lemon tart and truffles, both of which were outstanding.
A truly memorable dining experience. Many thanks to the team at The Salt Room.
3rd time eating here and I cannot recommend it enough.
Sadly I have to say we were deeply disappointed with the Salt room. We arrived and were shown to our table. We ordered the scallops and the ceviche as starters and the monk fish to share. The starters were very good. From
Here on our experience went down hill very fast!
The monk fish, £60 to share, we were given a side plate each and no way of serving the sauce and to be honest I would have expected a little garnish, even if it was just chopped parsley! Overall the food was ok as seen in the pictures. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the service, we watched with glee as the table opposite us were pandered to topping up there wine, engaging with conversation asking if everything was ok, we had nothing! No interaction of any kind with our waiter. My wife never complains, but thought today she would, She was told by the maitre’d that “well it was his birthday yesterday and may be he shouldn’t be in work today! We were asked if we wanted a drink as way of an apology, to which we didn’t agree but were given, we then started to talk to the couple on the table opposite us and explained our experience to them, whilst doing so our waiter was swooped out, although by then we had finished our meal. The maitre’d then comes to our table and asked us to leave stating “we require your table back NOW”. As we were leaving he turned to us both and said the we were black listed and must never return! As we had spoken to the couple on the opposite table.
To say we were both gobsmacked is an understatement! We have never been treated like this in our lives and will not ever consider going back. What a totally over rated over priced pretentious establishment!
