Established in 2004, we are a Hobart staple for Indian food and waterfront dining, featuring North Indian and Kashmiri flavours, tandoori dishes, chicken tikka, butter chicken, vindaloo, biryani, fresh naan and roti, and curries from mild to hot. We are licensed and BYO. Enjoy an impressive range of wines and beverages with serene harbour views. We offer gluten free, vegan and halal options and can accommodate other dietary requirements. Went there with my family for dinner on a weekend. One of the best Indian food in Hobart without a doubt. Newly renovated place has a great ambience and great service. They are able to easily adjust their food as per the Indian or Western palette for hotness of food. We had their butter chicken, Rogan Josh mutton and mango chicken. All of which was very good and went well when paired with their garlic and cheese nans and peas pulao. Will try their vegetarian options some other day.

The food was amazing. Staff are so friendly and make sure everything is to your liking. Vindaloo was hot and rich. Butterchicken was smooth and creamy and we tried a dish I can’t remember the name but it was my fav of the 3 and I’m a solid vindaloo lover. Highly recommend.

Hands down the best Indian/Pakistani food in Hobart. Saffron Indian Restaurant serves truly authentic flavours that remind you of home. The curries are rich, perfectly spiced, and full of depth without being overly oily, the naan is fresh and soft, and the meat is always tender and well cooked.
Portion sizes are generous, ingredients taste fresh, and the quality is excellent. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the service is efficient even during busy times.

Yesterday, I visited Saffron with friends. The environment was very nice—clean and tidy. The staff welcomed us warmly and were very attentive.
We ordered a vegetable and tandoori platter for starters, and wow, the authentic flavors were amazing! Everything was well-cooked and flavorful—spicy and delicious. For the main course, we had tikka masala with plain and garlic naan, along with chicken biryani. The mocktails were also delightful.
Everything we tried was delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed all the food. I highly recommend visiting Saffron with friends and family for some yummy food—you won’t be disappointed!
I would also like to thank Komal for the lovely sweet rasgulla; it was incredibly tasty with a soft and hot texture!

Out walking we stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a go. No booking required we walked in and we’re greeted with friendly staff. The food was delivered quickly and was delicious.
Our drinks order was mixed up and didn’t get what we ordered, but that was not really an issue.
There were not many people in the night we visited.
Highly recommended for great food.

I had dinner at Saffron on December 31 during my first night in Hobart and it was excellent. I walked in and was greeted warmly, and they found me a great table right away. The staff were genuinely friendly and it felt like a family run place with real pride in what they do. The food was amazing, and the location is also lovely. The chef even came by my table to check how everything was, which really impressed me. Highly recommended.
