The Rusty Rooster is a hidden gem in downtown Asheboro! Nestled in a beautiful 100-year-old historic building, this cozy dive bar has tons of charm. The liquor selection is on-point, the staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is just right for a laid-back night out. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

This place was friendly and the staff was very accepting to questions about the area. They sent us to some great places to eat and to have a drink after. We ended up staying there most of the evening

I went a while back, the atmosphere was awesome. Great live music and lots of good Ole boys and gals there to talk with and sing along with. They didn’t have budweiser tho. Def a fun spot to visit

Had a strange experience with a friend of mine.

We thought we had closed our tabs, had our cards run and given receipts. Left the bar and made it down to the parking lot before being stopped by another employee yelling that we “didn’t pay for [our] drinks.” Confused, me and my friend hand him the receipts we were given and keep walking before being chased back down and yelled at for knowingly not paying and for keeping the pint glasses (which were left on the bar). Me and my friend very willingly walked back to the bar and properly paid before leaving.

Turns out that “can we close out our tabs” and getting handed a receipt doesn’t mean we actually closed out. Not a massive issue, just frustrating. A bit more clear communication would’ve been super helpful to avoid the confusion and just make everything less tense.

Unfortunately the way everything was handled just soured me on coming back for a little while—especially to be yelled at across the parking lot, made to feel unsafe, accused of stealing glasses. I understand not wanting to have customers leave without paying, but we were very cooperative and non confrontational. We never got asked questions, weren’t asked to come to the bar to figure things out things the first time (before being chased back down)—just an honest mistake that was mishandled.

The Rooster is in such a nice spot in town, definitely give it a visit. My friend and I were enjoying up to the end, handling customers like this was just not the right way to go about any of it.
