The Rusty Hook Bar & Grill came up as one of the top crawfish spots in town to try. So we finally made the drive to give it a go.
The crawfish had a great flavor and plenty of seasoning and broth. But if you’re not a fan of over seasoning and saltiness from the spice. This won’t be for you.
We went with the extra hot and it was perfect for my own flavor profile. By the end it was the right amount of heat.
Service on the other hand can be hit or miss depending on the business of the hour you visit.
We were unable to get our oysters, we actually finished our 5lbs of crawfish before the oysters ever came out. (Ordered everything at the same time)
So be prepared to wait long after you place an order, reminders, etc. We couldn’t get refills or our bill, so again be aware.
The parking is horrible! If it’s busy, good luck getting a spot. Going to the street over, you’ll find plenty of tow away signs. Take your chances. It’s a dirt lot with pot holes and rather small. You’ve been warned.
The inside is rather small and gives local biker bar vibes. While there are no smoking signs, people were still smoking inside. With no concern to other guests or their own health conditions.
Pro Tip:
Rather than wait an hour or more to be seated. Sit at the open bar and get in and out faster.

Would I go back? While I enjoyed the food. Not sure I’d return, think there’s other spots without all the issues I’d select first. Think they are missing out on bigger opportunities than just locals.

These Crawfish are approved by this Coonass . Best I have had in years. Desiree was awesome and took care of us. Wife said buffalo chicken sandwich was great too. We will be back for sure.

The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the kind of place you can kick back and actually enjoy yourself. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

Service was terrible. We waited 45 minutes for a table for 4. This was not an issue we were happy to wait it was clearly busy. We sit down and a waitress gets our drinks and it takes about 15 minutes for waters only. We order an appetizer and it came in a timely manner. We couldn’t find our waitress and soon a different woman comes to take our food order. We asked about sauces and she said they come in a super small container and never mentions pricing. One of us got a shrimp boil, that came out in 30 minutes and then was getting cold waiting so had to eat it by herself. We waited 45 more minutes for the crawfish, over an hour and a half for 3 crawfish plates. We get them and 2/3 of the orders are incorrect. One didn’t get the correct side included in the bundle ordered and the other didn’t get the extra sides ordered. We hadn’t seen our waitress since she took our order, we didn’t see her for another 30 minutes after we got our food. We had to go to the bar 3 times to refill our own waters. We get the sauces and they are massive we only needed 1 each. They waitress said she had to charge us for all of them even tho she said they were very small and we didn’t touch most of them. Not once did the waitress or anyone come by to get some of the trash off of our table the entire time we were seated. We look at the check and it is $40 for sauce, and also sides that we never received. It seemed like we had been forgotten of most of the night. The manager comes out to discuss some of the prices and is kind to remove the sides that were never even dropped off at our table. The waitress said she was super busy and that is why she never checked up on us or refilled our waters, or even gotten the sides I had asked for twice. We walk out after paying and see her sitting outside chatting with her friends.

I got the Little Hook Platter , Spicy, and it was AMAZING! 3 lbs of crawfish, 1/2 lb of shrimp , and a nice sized snow crab cluster! (You also have the option of Dungeness) two potatoes and corn!

Wouldn’t go back. Shrimp boil was good but the shrimp was overcooked. Stuffed potatoe with BBQ was ok. Nothing to write home about.
Service was outstanding!
You can smoke inside. Luckily it wasn’t busy so I couldn’t smell cigarette smoke. Place feels dirty. I was expecting to see a roach at any minute, but did not!

It’s hard to be 50 cent raw oysters! Found 3 pearls in 2 dzn oysters. Bottle only beer, no tap. Boudin egg rolls are a large portion for one person. It’s two egg rolls per order then served cut in half. Everything tasted great.

First time to this restaurant but DEFINITELY not our last! We ordered the Lil Hook and the crawfish was DELICIOUS! Spicy and hot. The snow crab legs were a little cold but definitely didn’t take away the taste. Ordered a sausage link and mushrooms too. Equally delicious The first place we find, after years living here, with boiled crawfish made southern Louisiana style. Thank you!

We ordered from Rusty Hook Bar & Grill through DoorDash, and while I always give some leeway with takeout (since food steams in the box), packaging definitely makes a difference.
Mac & Cheese: The flavor was good, but the texture was a big miss. It came out watery—more like noodles in cheese soup than mac and cheese. I’ll be asking for a refund on this one.
Buffalo Chicken Sandwich: Tasty overall, but not what was advertised. It wasn’t buffalo-style at all—just a fried chicken sandwich. Good flavor, but misleading.
Gumbo with Rice: Absolutely delicious! Rich, flavorful, and with just the right amount of spice. Easily the standout dish of the order.
Tailpipes: Great flavor, though the outside was a bit tough. I’m guessing that’s from sitting in a styrofoam box, because I can imagine these would be amazing fresh out of the kitchen.
Overall, some hits and some misses. The gumbo and tailpipes make me want to visit in person, because I’m sure the experience is better when things come out fresh. Definitely planning to stop in and try more, especially the torpedoes.

Edit to add: commented on Facebook, deleted and was blocked by the company. Accountability-zero. Terrible service. Terrible management/owners. Customer service is trash. will never return. Negative 100 stars. More worried about social media posts than service. Absolutely disgraceful. Ordered food. Didn’t get it. Asked the server three times for my food. Crawfish. Watched at least 20 plates of crawfish served around me to many different tables. Table of six, spending at least $300. Stacy (manager) said to me “do you see how busy we are?” So. RUDE. When I asked for the fifth time for my food. Her daughter was our server. More worried about defending her than apologizing to the customer.
