So where do I begin? The place was a pleasant surprise. I had a few qualms about the style In which a couple of dishes were served but overall? The flavors were good. I would go back. We had the “crispy Brussels” as an appetizer. They were served dressed in a bowl and therefore they were not crispy… Rather they were floppy Brussels but tasty all the same maybe consider a name change on the menu. We ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich. It’s served with fries and we ordered fried green tomatoes, which I prefer with a lighter breading, but with the green goddess dressing it seemed to work well. Delicious. My cohort on this visit also had the Caesar salad and corn chowder both of which I reportedly heard were delicious as well thanks for the pleasant surprise rustic spoon and a great meal !

Stopped in for breakfast recently at the last minute due to not wanting to drive to the ocean front. Thankful that I did.

I decided to try the filet mignon benedict, my spouse had the carnitas omelette, and my child had the French toast. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My child who is extremely picky asked for a extra French toast cause they liked it that much. We liked how the drinks were served in mason jars and water came in their custom plastic cups. The breakfast potatoes were perfect with a great crisp. The only thing that threw me off with the meal is that the filet mignon benedict didn’t actually have the steak on the Benedict. It was served in the middle of the plate. Not a big deal but just Incase anyone was thinking it would be layered like a traditional Benedict.

Faith was our server and she was absolutely amazing. We were lucky enough to sit at the table by the fire place which helped set the mood especially on a hazy weathered day.

Will definitely return in the future.

I visited with family over the Christmas holiday and enjoyed the items I ordered, sweet potato biscuits with ham and gumbo. I had never visited before and would go back. My family also enjoyed their meals. There was a significant wait despite open tables and we learned they seat in that manner so as not to overwhelm the kitchen. It’s very considerate of the staff and is a business decision my sister uses at her restaurants

If this isn’t on one of your favorite brunch spots in the Hampton Roads, you’re doing brunch wrong. If you can, I recommend making a reservation as they can get pretty busy quickly during brunch. Parking is fairly easy to secure in the parking lot out front. Today I wanted to deviate from my normal carnitas hash and I ordered the special of the day, carne asada hash that was loaded with meat and fresh jalapeños and crumbled cheese. So fresh and flavorful with every bite. Another sweet treat from the specials, we tried their cinnamon roll with extra additions of candied walnuts and caramel rum butter. My boyfriend got his usual shrimp and grits—absolutely to die for with the savory sauce and plentiful amount of shrimp and sausage. The mimosa flight is always our go to pick for drinks. Our server was attentive and we always enjoy a lovely, filling brunch from the Rustic Spoon!

Overall great quality food, great flavor, and good price. Ordered the chicken and waffles and “The Spoon” (eggs, bacon, potato, and toast) and tried their apple pie pancakes. The chicken and waffles drizzled with hot honey were one of my top 3 on chicken and waffles I’ve had. For the other breakfast plate, the scrambled eggs were really creamy and buttery. But the toast was heavily burnt, almost like charcoal, but I suspect it’s a one off thing? Even the potatoes were seasoned well. The apple pie pancakes tasted like apple pie! I wish there were more chunks of apple in it, we had one piece of apple

We didn’t try any of their drinks, but they do have a bar.

Overall, we would come back again. The price, flavor, quality of food along with portion size is great. Service was ok. Surprisingly there is a second floor with additional seating!

This restaurant can get pretty busy on the weekend so I would reccomend making a reservation unless you don’t mind sitting at the bar. With bar seating it only took 15 minutes to get seated.

We had the funnel cake cinnamon roll, Carne Asada Hash, Crab Cake burger, and biscuits. In short, GET THE FUNNEL CAKE CINNAMON ROLL.

The funnel cake cinnamon roll was amazing. I’ve never tasted any cinnamon roll that topped it. 9.5/10 for me. Perfect amount of icing but not overbearing like Cinnabon. Nize drizzle of chocolate with a crunchy and flavorful exterior, and a fluffy inside with lots of sweet cinnamon spread. I can’t really describe how good it was, it was just good so you should get it.

The biscuits are unique; never tasted an biscuit like them but they are not my favorite. I tasted a decent amount of cornmeal or something similar, the crust is crunchy and slightly buttered but the inside is very fluffy. It’s not as savory or buttery as other biscuits I had. The more I ate them though, the more they grew on me. The butter really helped to bring the flavors of the biscuits out.

I thought the burger itself was pretty standard. Well cooked, but nothing out of the ordinary. Fries were crunchy and had good texture. The crab cake though was a bit salty on the burger and it got more salty the more we ate it. It did help to make up for the basic flavors inside the patty though.

The carne asada hash was good. Lots of ingredients that helped to brighten the dish and differentiate it from normal breakfast hash. I liked the addition of tomatoes since I love eating veggies with all of my dishes.

Our server at the bar was super attentive and checked up on us pretty often. Very fun and lighthearted as well which helped to make the experience better. Atmosphere is nice and tidy, and although it was busy it felt somewhat cozy.

I would definitely come back here again, especially for that cinnamon roll.

What a gem! As a visitor to Virginia Beach, The Rustic Spoon was such a fun find — cozy vibe, amazing food, and top-tier service. We all loved our food. I made a few tweaks to the shrimp and grits, and the chef Kevin, personally came over to make sure I knew how the change might affect the flavor—now that’s service. Turns out, it was still absolutely delicious! He even tweaked my drink to perfection when I mentioned it was a little strong. Both he and our server, Everett, were personable, attentive, and genuinely caring. It felt like five-star hospitality. They turned a great meal into a great experience. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in town—thanks, guys.

To me it’s one of those one and done restaurants everything was mid for the price. 3 shrimp that were cut to look bigger for 12 dollars is wild! Service was fine. Environment was meh, and price per serving was awful. I ordered a Nashville chicken sandwich which was decent but I think they gave me 13 fries with my side.
