I took my son to lunch, there was not a wait on the seating which was very nice. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The wait on the food was not long at all since it was prepared when ordered. I noticed that I had fewer fries than my son but before I knew it I had another basket of fries brought to me. The french fries were awesome!!!!! The rest of our food was just as awesome!!!!! First time I have finished my plate in a very long time. I will definately go back many more times, there are different dishes I would like to try!!!!!! Way to go Rustic Hook you have me hooked!!!!!! Also was very nice having the chef go to each table to make sure things were as expected. This does not happen any where else and if it does it is not often at all.

This restaurant is my favorite in the surrounding 20-mile radius.

Their catfish is absolutely delicious. It’s flaky, yet crispy, and very juicy. I have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times and have never had a bad experience.

The inside could use a bit of an overhaul, but the food and the outstanding service more than makes up for its lack of visual appeal.

The price of the food is absolutely stellar compared with how much food you get. I have a family of 4 and I can order the catfish dinner to go, and it will feed all four of us. Granted, we aren’t all stuffed full after the one catfish dinner, but it will feed us all and not leave us hungry. Can’t beat that for 7 bux.

I highly recommend this place to anyone. The service is excellent, and the food is amazing.

The only downside to this place is that there are no mashed potatoes. . . . yeah. I’ve made the suggestion every time I go, but my suggestions have been in vain. But, it’s not a deal-breaker at all. I love this place.

The food was good, not spectacular, just good. The service was LOUSY. It took over an hour to get a burger, and there was absolutely to offer to compensate us at all except to offer a “piece of pie”. The waitress was more interested in telling another customer about her living arrangements than waiting her table. 5 orders for burgers that came in after us were filled before ours came out.

What a disappointment. My dining experience started with me waiting over five minutes to be seated to have the waitress tell me to sit where ever I wanted. This didn’t upset me. It was more of a warning of things to come.

I ordered the Fish and Chip meal which came with fish, fries and green beans. I swapped the green beans for the Clam Chowder. The waitress indicated I should serve myself soup from the salad bar. The salad bar was only partially set. There was no salad on the salad bar. The toppings were available and looked good, but I couldn’t find the soup.

The waitress pointed to a long, square, covered pan and indicated that was the soup. I lifted the lid to get a face full of hot steam and to find there was no serving utensil. The waitress ran over and said to be careful and that she would get me a spoon. I dished up my soup and returned to my booth.

The soup was very good. A nice amount of clams swam in a creamy soup base. The only seasoning I added was pepper.

I finished the soup and tried to patiently wait for my fish and chips. From the time I walked in to the restaurant to the time I got my meal, it was a 50 minute wait. The waitress told me several times it would only be a few more minutes.

My meal finally came. I was served a fish sandwich basket instead of fish and chips. I brought it to the waitress attention. She said she was sorry, but made no effort to do anything. I finally said I would eat it because I didn’t have more time to wait for the cook to fix the meal I ordered.

The sandwich came with a much smaller piece of fish than the bread. The bread was dry and lettuce, tomato and onion was served on the side. The waitress said that tarter sauce would be coming. The cook still had to make it. I picked at the fries hoping the sauce would come. As my fish started getting cold, I asked the waitress for something as a dip for the fish even if it was only mayo. She brought me the mayo so I finally started to eat.

The fish was a small piece, but it was perfectly cooked. The breading was crispy and did not drip with grease. I didn’t eat the fish as a sandwich, since that was not what I wanted. I did eat one piece of the bread with it. The bread had a toasted butter flavor to it.

The sandwich came with an average side of fries. They were the best part of the meal. They were delicious and seasoned to perfection.

Normally, I would have asked to speak to the manager regarding the problems. However, she had already spoke to every customer in the restaurant except me. She even came out to speak to new people as the tables turned over while I waited on my food. She never once acknowledge me even though she spoke to the man in the booth in front of mine. I had the distinct feeling that she felt a booth with only one woman dining wasn’t worth her effort. Little did she know that I had planned to come back with my husband for the Sunday brunch. Had it been good, we would have become regular customers.

In summary, eat here if you have over a hour for lunch and if you don’t mind if you are served food you didn’t order. Most likely the food will be good, but don’t expect good service or management that cares how your dining experience was.

We were very disappointed. The website said there is a lunch buffet but there wasn’t. We ordered the seafood platter. It cost around $13 and we got three shrimp, a small piece of fish and around a half a cup of clams. It was not worth it at all. Long john silver has better food than this.

Tremendous! Must have!! Love that the owner cares enough to chat and ask how they can be better, although I have zero complaints.
