Having been around Bridgewater a decade, never been here… till last night. Will skip BBW forever, we have a new place to go to regularly.. loved it! Avoided even looking at this place even I drive ny umpteen times not wven giving it a second look. Looks are deceptive, this is a golden find for me.. the staff are amazing, food and drink excellent and prices down to earth. A convert now.

I have not posted here since just post covid so I need to change my review. Great local bar and great to watch sports. U get food from 30 burgers next door and they are great. Friendly staff and people. Great for bikers and literally anyone is welcome. Wings are great. Stop in! My favorite burger is actually the chicken sandwich with guac/bacon. It’s good! So are the tots

The bartender Amie is very unprofessional and not friendly.. she is hanging over her boyfriend the whole time and not paying attention to customers.. in my opinion, she should be terminated immediately. She is very rude to customers and acts like a child ringing a bell constantly at last call and pushing customers away. Dave on the other hand is very friendly and splendid. If it were him and another bartender as nice as him working I would return. At this point if she continues to be working I will not be returning to the royal. The only reason I didn’t leave early is because Dave was here.

For the type of bar that it is, I thought it was great. The girls working the night shift were friendly. The burger was delicious. Lots of Tvs and good music playing.

If you’re big on American food, the food here is great – especially the burgers, if you didn’t get the hint from the name ’30 Burgers.’ Very affordable prices. Not much to say about the bar element – it’s a nice, reliable, homey bar.

I can’t really criticize this place too harshly, because it is not their fault that we have a liberal policy businessman in office in Trenton who, through his executive orders and other non-scientific left-wing, politically-motivated fear-mongering, has virtually shut down all the low-cost pool tables, that I used to love shooting in, in this wonderful state of New Jersey, like the 2 great pool tables that I used to shoot at, here, in the Royal Bar. Now, it was busy, last night, on 4/24/21, when I went there with my new girlfriend, and most of the other customers there were probably enjoying themselves, there, while drinking and eating in plastic-shield isolated tables. But, I had already enjoyed a fine meal, with my new, loving woman, at the Texas Weiner burger joint and hot dog place in Middlesex, so I wasn’t hungry. And, inasmuch as I haven’t had an alcoholic drink in 35+ years (I’ve been clean and sober for 35+ years, by the grace of God), and don’t plan to start drinking again, any time soon, the ONLY reason that I went there, was to shoot pool, at a low-cost pool table. (And I’ve really enjoyed some good low-cost shooting at the Royal Bar, in the past…) But, the manager/hostess/owner informed me that BOTH of these wonderful pool tables, each in their own nice game rooms, are now CLOSED, because we have elected another LIBERAL, LEFT-LEANING SOCIALIST, for our governor, in Trenton, who, like many of his predecessors, has been systematically destroying the free-market economy, in this wonderful home state of mine, here in New Jersey. And so, me & my girl, drove all the way back to Middlesex, where we passed by a large carnival in progress for families with kids (with many people not wearing masks, or maintaining social distancing-YES!!!-at least SOME places have the COURAGE to defy the WORTHLESS, UNSCIENTIFIC policies, of our SOCIALIST governor, in Trenton!!!) Then we went to the End Zone, where I managed to find a low-cost table to shoot pool at, in a place with loud rock music, with a crowd of revelers, mostly without masks, who weren’t worried about social distancing. (And, as a special BONUS, my recent ex-girlfriend of the past 8 years showed up with her new boyfriend, who is also an excellent pool shooter. But, we were both VERY rusty, with so FEW places to shoot low-cost pool at, since March, 2020…) And so, I wound up actually having a good time, at the End Zone, while sipping water from my red solo cup, and shooting several games of pool, while all the other not-so-sober revelers around me were drinking, dancing, listening to loud, raucous music, and otherwise having a good time! Too bad that I couldn’t have done the same at the Royal Bar, last night (like all the times in the past when I quietly enjoyed annihilating all the younger, less-experienced and definitely impaired competition, that I had to deal with, on the pool tables, there. What can I say? Getting clean and sober, has been the greatest blessing of my life, and has enabled me, among other things, to wipe out the competition on the pool tables, many, many times, in the past, beat a MASTER in chess, AND have former girlfriends come back to me, time and time again–among other things…) And so, I give the Royal Bar 3 stars, now, although I would’ve given them 5 stars, in the past, before they closed both of their pool tables, to the public.
Now, on 7/16/25, pandemic fear is over, liberal socialist policies are waning, nationwide, and 1 pool table is back open again, & I’ve enjoyed quite a few good times shooting pool at the Royal, in the past year, especially since I bought a 2002 Honda Accord & then restored it, auto-mechanically speaking. Many good shooters have come back here, in the past few years–and I’ve had quite a few good times here, lately. I shoot pool here even more often than the Extra Pint in Manville (another good place to shoot), because I like the area around the Royal, in the West Jersey countryside, out on Route 22. So it now gets 5 stars from me.
