Irma doesn’t claim to be some state-of-the-art shop on the cutting edge of coffee roasting. And frankly, it doesn’t need to. Instead, this first-gen, Latina-owned business focuses on what it knows best: homemade coffee, traditional café de olla, and some great breakfast & lunch sandwiches that always make us want to sit in her cute little corner and enjoy while we work. Her café de olla is one of the best in town and comes full of aromatic cinnamon and sweet piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar with a molasses-like flavor). Everything gently bubbles together in a pot until the brew becomes a spicy, sweet, and eye-opening concoction that calls for some much-needed breakfast. Ask for her signature El Tren and El Despreciado Torta and don’t forget

This place sits in my heart as another Latina-owned and local business that everyone appreciates. I love how aesthetic they made their coffee shop, despite it being in such a small space. They promote so much culture and honestly I do not take any of that for granted.

When Cafe Cordoba down the street is closed or too full at times, I usually go to this coffee shop. Their cafe de ollas are also the best in the nation as well — hence, why I go to them so much more often. If you want to go for the pastries, go early though — they usually either run out by mid-morning or even before.

The hospitality at this coffee shop is top-notch. They literally make you feel at home, and their sandwich portions and their dessert portions are humongous. Any kind of cafecito you want? They got you. Feeling salty craving? They also got you as well.

I love this place a lot, and it’s definitely a staple to the Fruitvale community in Oakland.

Tucked away on a corner in one of East Oakland’s developing neighborhoods, they’ve done a wonderful job with this place.

As soon as you walk in the ambiance drips from every corner. The staff is nice and they have a selection of interesting drinks and foods at very reasonable prices.

They have Wi-Fi and some power available. Seating is limited and therefore it can get a touch noisy so I wouldn’t come for an extended work session, but it’s charm and decor are worth experiencing.

Best latte in the Bay, hands down!☕️ The vegetarian sandwich was delicious, and the pesto sauce on the side salad was amazing. Super friendly staff, clean bathrooms, mostly indoor seating, and easy street parking. Would absolutely recommend. 10/10!

If you want just a quick bite and a coffee or a full on breakfast, this is the spot for you. The chef is amazing. I had the simple Nutella toast but the amount of care that went into it made it all worth it. The chef also brought us out a mini yogurt bowl to enjoy. Such a great place!

We have been coming here for about 5 years and I always come back. It feels like home. They have toys upstairs for my kiddos and it has always felt like a safe space when It’s just me and the kids or when im by myself.

Delicious food, women owned, wonderful and kind service, and lovely ambience. Was given a free chia pudding to taste by the owner! Felt so cozy and taken care of. I recommend the chipotle chicken sandwich!

Amazing family owned café in East Oakland! The service was the best I’ve ever had and the food was delicious. They are complete hospitality. They gave me samples of their homemade pesto, green goddess dressing, and their Chia pudding with their homemade honey.
