Jim and Jean Pope married in 1947 and had four children. In 1964, the family moved from the east coast to California. On the way, they spent a night here in Seligman at the Navajo Motel (now known as the Historic Route 66 Motel). The family settled in Westminster, CA and owned and operated a family catering truck business. In 1983, the family sold their business and bought several other businesses in Seligman, AZ. One of those businesses being the Navajo Motel that the family had stayed in 20-years earlier. They also bought the Historic Route 66 General Store, Historic Route 66 Automotive and Towing, and a small bar called the O.K. Saloon. A patio was added to the front of the O.K. Saloon to hold parties and dances.
Rustic place with plenty local color & taxidermy offering charbroiled burgers & other American grub.

Reviews
The Roadkill Cafe / O.K. Saloon is one of those legendary Route 66 stops that never gets old and we’ve visited several times while driving from California to Arizona on I-40. Every stop has been consistently fun, memorable, and satisfying.
First things first: parking is easy and free, with a wide lot that’s perfect for road trippers, RVs, and anyone just stretching their legs after a long drive. Inside, the atmosphere is pure Route 66 Americana authentic, well preserved and full of character. From the décor to the mounted memorabilia and historic signs, the place feels like a living museum that still serves great food.
The coffee is solid, and the burgers are excellent. If you’re feeling adventurous, the “Toad Off the Road” Elk Burger is a standout flavorful, juicy, and surprisingly well balanced. Classic burgers are also done right, and the desserts are outstanding, making this a perfect stop whether you want a full meal or just a sweet break.
Cleanliness matters on the road, and this place delivers: restrooms are clean and well-maintained, which is always appreciated when traveling. There’s also a large gift shop packed with cool souvenirs, Route 66 memorabilia, and fun finds you won’t see at typical tourist stops.
Overall, this is not just a restaurant it’s a true Route 66 experience. Authentic, welcoming and consistently enjoyable.
Highly recommended for anyone driving I-40 or exploring historic Route 66 in Arizona.
Walking into the Roadkill Café / O.K. Saloon felt like stepping into a parallel-universe Arizona where taxidermy, chaos, and pure eccentricity have formed an unholy alliance. The décor is a glorious disaster: every wall crammed with objects that absolutely shouldn’t coexist, yet somehow scream, “Yes, I’m here. No, I won’t explain myself.”
And honestly? I loved every second.
Now, the service… let’s just say the staff do the bare minimum required to appear friendly and helpful—and it’s honestly part of the charm. They give you the vibe of seasoned saloon keepers who will serve you with a half-smile, as if they’re doing you a favor, but still make sure you don’t starve. Functional, mildly amused, slightly confused: the holy trinity of roadside hospitality.
Food? Good enough to survive the desert.
Atmosphere? Unforgettable fever dream.
Overall? A place you visit once, laugh about forever, and secretly want to brag you survived.
A must-stop for anyone who enjoys their Americana with a twist of madness.
The food was excellent — the Buffalo Burger was absolutely fantastic, juicy and flavorful, and definitely a must-try. The wings were perfectly sauced and crispy, and the burger plate with fries hit the spot. Service was friendly, fast, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.
If you’re driving through Seligman, this is a Route 66 gem you don’t want to miss. Highly recommend!
