We had an exceptional dining experience. The octopus was the standout of the night—perfectly tender and packed with flavor. The kampachi crudo was fresh and bright, with the kiwi adding a unique and delicious touch. The Flannery aged steak was a true table favorite, cooked beautifully and paired perfectly with its rich reduction. Service was impeccable from start to finish, attentive without ever feeling intrusive. We ended the night with two desserts, and both were outstanding. Oh, get the bread and butter!

We came here for an early meal and found the service, atmosphere and food to be fantastic. With some food allergies it made more sense to do the a la carte instead of the tasting menu.

The craft cocktails were well made and balanced (frankly after all the wine tastings they were a welcome change!)
The tuna crudo and Hokkaido scallops were perfection and presented beautifully. The burrata and beet salad was a symphony of flavor. Two of us got the duck breast which was fantastic but I thought the star was the vermillion rockfish – the marriage of Thai and broth and forbidden rice were delicious. For dessert we had a special treat from the kitchen so thanks chef – you couldn’t go wrong with any choice. The decor is California chic with a slight nod to mid century but not over the top. Large windows give a sense of indoor outdoor with lots of spaciousness.

What I loved most was it wasn’t French. It wasn’t Italian. It wasn’t Japanese. But it encompassed parts of everything with that American twist that made it great

I had my second experience at Northblock tonight and was extremely impressed. The tasting menu was everything I had hoped for and more. Additionally, Alex our waitress was attentive, fun, lively, knowledgable and overall great at her job.

Thank you Northblock for a delicious evening

Wow! Was here for my birthday last Sunday. Did the tasting menu w wine pairings. The food was nothing short or amazing. The wine pairings were perfection! My favorite was the gnocchi dish w peas – they made it taste so smoky- and this dish unlike another wasn’t even smoking!! The service was amazing- the setting was beautiful. They were v kind to my service dog. I can’t believe they only have 2 Michelin stars. Thank you to the chef and staff for making it a memorable birthday meal

One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. We came for the Spring Tasting Menu and every single course was a standout — beautifully plated, balanced, and full of unexpected flavors that worked together perfectly. From the first bite to the last, we were genuinely impressed by the creativity and attention to detail.

We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, and the staff made the evening feel truly special. The service was warm, thoughtful, and perfectly timed — never rushed, but always attentive. The team made sure we felt cared for without being overbearing, and they even added a few personal touches that made the celebration even more meaningful.

The venue itself is absolutely stunning — elegant without being pretentious, with a relaxed, welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place you want to come back to again and again. North Block delivered on every level, and we left already talking about when we can return. Five stars, without hesitation.

We left really disappointed that we chose the tasting menu… 90++ usd each. Go for a la carte!!!

Me and my partner are visiting Napa, and we decided to go for the tasting menu, we wanted to see what the chef wanted to showcase and honestly very disappointing. Taste wise we were a little disappointed but to me that’s a minor issue given taste is preferential. Scallop and peaches dish was just way too peachy and sour you could barely taste the scallop.

The main thing was the portion sizes being waaaay too small. We’re from Thailand so we’re already not use to the usual huge American portions but we were shocked at how small each piece of food was. I expected the starters to be small, but the gnocchetti dish came and it was easy to count how many pieces we got, I’m sure you can see from the picture. Then the main dish came to my complete surprise we were served two (thumb size) pieces of steak… use the corn kernels on the side as a comparison…

We were left hungry after the main dish arrived that we had to ask the server for an a la carte item which he recommended a tagliatelle bolognese. Maybe my perspective is wrong but I don’t think anyone should leave a tasting menu feeling hungry. We regretted not going for the a la carte menu from the start, maybe we would have got our moneys worth. We considered going for a second meal in town right after but we were too tired. Not an experience I would recommend to anybody after spending 275 usd (all-in).

I will note though the server was really great and very attentive and made the evening slightly better but honestly the food just brought the whole down experience.

Best dining experience we had the entire time we were in Napa! We had the tomato and burrata and tuna appetizer. They were both so elegantly done. The sour dough bread was next level and the salted butter was so perfect and wholesome. We had the rock fish and the New York strip. They were both excellent but the strip was absolutely next level. From the presentation to the actual entree, perfection. Finished it off with the lemon tart, budino, and a cappuccino. They were all fantastic but the budino was like tasting something from my grandma’s kitchen. Larry was our server and he was just fantastic. He was inviting and informative but also mindful that we were here to celebrate our anniversary and wanted an intimate dinner. Thank you for a great experience!

I’m not sure why this restaurant doesn’t have more recognition, but I highly recommend dining at North Block. We tried the Spring Tasting menu and the wine pairing. Normally, I find a few dishes I don’t enjoy on almost every tasting menu, but each course at NB was absolutely delicious and beautifully plated. My boyfriend doesn’t even like gnocchi, abalone, lemon desserts (all items on the menu), but even he was agreed it was one of the best tasting menus we’ve had in the USA. This is my second time in Yountville, and I believe the food exceeds the more known restaurants like Bottega, RH, etc. The staff is also super friendly! Thank you for a great experience. As someone who rarely revisits restaurants while on vacation- we will be back the next time we are in Yountville!

If I could give it a zero star I would.

I ordered one tasting menu, Bolognese pasta, dozen oysters, and a beet tartar.

The entire tasting menu is just cooked horribly, course after course. The halibut is overcooked. Courses have no connection whatsoever between one another. Ravioli is so bad I couldn’t even finish. If I wasn’t really hungry I would return everything and not eat it. The only thing that was somewhat good is the wood fired steak dish with a red wine reduction and another cream based sauce I believe in the tasting menu.

Everything ended up costing 270. Insane amount for the kind of food and service you get. Server never asked once how we were doing and I had to ask for someone every time.

Dinner was wonderful, the food was delicious and the drinks were creative and tasted great. The bread and butter took a while to come out but when it did, it was so fresh and yummy. Overall amazing experience and will definitely be coming back!
