We came here for our first time on our anniversary in sep 2025. We had camped at the campground many times over the years and just never stopped here before. We used open table to make our reservation here 2 months in advance, which I highly recommend. The process to make reservation through the open table app was totally easy. Don’t be the family standing at the front desk claiming to have made a reservation, and yet it magically is not there…it’s embarrasing to watch people try that BS. The dining room is open for service at 5:30pm and lounge opens at 5:pm with seating being first come first served. You could easily have your entire meal in the lounge. The lounge menu is different, but many have said they have ordered from the dining room menu with no problems at all.So insider tip:if you get a seat at the lounge, you can order anything in the restaurant. We had made reservations for 5:30 pm on a wed and figured it would be not as busy.Boy were we wrong. We were literally the first to be seated, and the hostess gave us our choice of any table in the place. She was very patient actually, and let us take our time.So we were seated and given our menus, and any other details to know as far as our waiter,etc..The ambience of the restaurant was not exactly what I had expected. To be honest,I felt like the furniture looked old and dated, but perhaps that is the vibe they are looking for.The walls gave me a hunting lodge feel. The views from some of the tables had wonderful sweeping views of the sierras. We were seated at a table in the back left of the restaurant and it was comfortable and airy with lots of windows all around. It was daylight out still,so that could change. We looked at our menus and we both knew quickly what we wanted. We ordered the beef wellington with mash potatoes and vegetables, and the rib eye with potato wedges and broccoli. We ordered a rasberry lemon drop martini, and a long island iced tea. Our food was a little bit of a wait, but not bad considering the place was PACKED. Our wait was rewarded with two tastey plates of food. The beef wellington is a hungry man’s wet dream. If you want hearty tastey goodness with rich brown gravy and umptious chuncks of meat covered in a flakey pastry crust with mashed potatoes underneath, then don’t hesitate.”One Beef Wellington please”:) The ribeye steak that was ordered was well received and perfect medium as requested. Our drinks were pretty good. The rasberry martini was especially liked. The long island iced tea was normal.Several times the waiters walked by without offering us another drink, and that is why I give 4 stars for service.I am not sure if being a waiter there,is their dream job and it shows. We were offered dessert options and we shared some home made ice cream. We came here for our anniversary because it was a special day.The food was excellent and we would come here again for that.We wouldn’t come here again for the atmosphere and wait staff…not because the wait staff were impolite or anything like that…but maybe because you can tell when someone is doing bare minimum.I would 100% come back for the beef wellington, and sit in the lounge at the bar,and then all would be fine.

The one and only restaurant located inside Convict Lake Resort and 5 minutes away from Convict Lake itself! You’ll see the locals coming here and how that makes the restaurant come into life every evening.
Location aside, this restaurant has a very cozy vibe which wooden exterior and interior, all big windows surrounding the restaurants and elegant booth seating areas. I can imagine coming here during the winter season and looking out of the windows to see falling snowflakes while sipping on my hot beverage.
We rented a cabin at Convict Lake Resort and had prepared all our food with us. However, after cooking for ourselves for 2 days, we grew tired and decided to eat out. Why not? A quick research and we were surprised of how many great reviews this restaurant had.
Because this was an impromptu thing, we couldn’t make any reservation. We decided to go early around 5:30pm. Luckily the bar area was open on a first come first serve basis. At 5:30pm, the bar area was almost filled too with people without reservations like us. We were lucky to be able to grab one of the last few open tables.
Our server, though very busy himself, was attentive and made sure to take our orders and bring out our food in a timely manner. I appreciated that a lot!
We ordered burgundy escargot for appetizer, rack of lamb and beef Wellington for main dishes and crème brûlée for dessert.
We were blown away by the burgundy escargot! OMG it smelt heavenly! It came out like a pillowy pie which you have to tap it open. As soon as it cracked and showed the interior, a heavenly smell came out that attracted attention of many of our neighbors. One of them even came over and asked which dish was it. The escargots inside were tender yet tasty and matched so well with the buttery pie exterior! They were super juicy as well. I’m still drooling now as I’m writing this and recalling the amazing escargot dish.
Our main dishes, however, shined a bit less than the escargot appetizer. They were good but nothing spectacular. We loved the portion sizes and how everything was tastefully presented.
Honestly, for a restaurant located near Convict Lake area like this, this restaurant exceeded my expectations. We definitely will come back for sure to try other dishes and make sure to make reservations next time 🙂

Came here for our anniversary dinner while in Mammoth. Everything was incredible. Beef Wellington was cooked perfectly and the plating was exquisite. My husband ordered the steak and frites and loved the flavor of his ribeye. We also ordered the table-side prepared Bananas Foster- delish. Can’t wait to go back. Make sure to secure a reservation! We went on a random Wednesday and they seemed to be fully booked. We had no wait with a reservation.

We booked The Restaurant at Convict Lake weeks before our trip after reading glowing reviews—and it did not disappoint. For our last night before heading home, we were looking for something memorable, and this place delivered a true five-star experience.
The restaurant has a charming old-school vibe with a rich sense of history. The walls are adorned with beautiful artwork and impressively mounted trout caught right from Convict Lake, giving the space a warm, rustic elegance.
The servers were outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the menu. From start to finish, the service was polished and friendly without being stuffy.
The menu was impressive and well-curated. We started with the escargot, which came beautifully presented beneath a golden puff pastry crust—absolutely delicious. For dinner, Erik chose the trout while I went with the beef Wellington. Both entrées were beautifully plated with mashed potatoes, a vibrant carrot purée, and perfectly cooked asparagus. The flavors were rich, balanced, and comforting.
While this is certainly a fine dining restaurant—with white tablecloths and an elevated atmosphere—private booths for seating and it still feels welcoming and relaxed. You don’t need to dress to the nines, but skip the shorts and flip-flops out of respect for the space and fellow diners.
Although the cocktail list featured traditional favorites, we passed after a full day of activities. I did, however, enjoy a generous pour of Sequoia Grove Cabernet that paired beautifully with the beef Wellington.
It’s tucked away in the middle of nowhere, but if you’re staying at Convict Lake Resort or nearby McGee’s Resort, this should absolutely be on your list. A true gem in the Eastern Sierra.

Fabulous restaurant. 5 stars across the board, one of the best I’ve ever been to and keep returning for that very reason. It is fine dining with a home cooking feel. Top ingredients and beautifully thought out menu. Worth the drive and every dollar spent. I wish I could eat here more often! Luckily I am 5 hours away and a 2nd home owner in Mammoth Lakes so I get to visit frequently. The staff and location are also perfection. We’ve even had a party for 30 in the back room and used party buses to get here, one of the best ideas we’ve had! I hope they stick around until I have grandchildren and beyond! Get the escargo! Chefs kiss muah!

Decent food but expensive overall in my opinion. The portion size was large for many dishes but my pasta was less food than other dishes which I found odd. overall l, it is the only place at convict lake resort to go out and eat without having to drive 25 minutes to Mammoth.

Second time visiting this restaurant for an anniversary. So good both times. Started the meal by sharing a caesar salad. They split it for us and highly recommend it. Hubby had the filet and I had the scallops. Both were excellent. Our waiter recommended a delicious bottle of wine to go with our meal which was perfect. Ended our exceptional meal with the creme brulee. Did not disappoint. Will definitively be back next ski trip.

The kind of restaurant where the full ratings are well earned. From the appetizers to the entrees, the tastes and views are equally immense and well posited. Now, if duck, escargot, and lamb being ordered by the hoity toity makes you giggle, don’t worry, the other half of California culture is there to solidly drown you out – meaning, this place is a fancy destination and well, one must be prepared to find “fancy” people in such a Cali place.
The staff and management and everything else seemed down to earth and we all felt right equally at home!
The appetizers were fresh and reasonable for just about any of us, most likely!
Cheers!
