The Reservoir & Big Tree Brewing

  4.4 – 1,172 reviews   • American restaurant

Established in 2009, The Reservoir was created to celebrate the emerging craft beer market of Vermont and beyond. Additionally, we worked to create a menu that is fresh, creative and local when possible. We are proud to call Waterbury, Vermont our home. Since we opened, we have worked countless hours to create a draft list that is filled with a balance of styles, served fresh and the best beers we can source from Vermont. We are privileged to pour drafts from breweries like Hill Farmstead, Lawson’s Finest Liquids, Frost and many more. Our draft list changes daily. Looking for a private space for up to 50 people? Many people don’t know about it, but we have a beautiful private event space that can be used for many different purposes.

Down-to-earth spot offering 30+ beers on tap, comfort food & weekly live-music shows.

Good: Service was friendly and knowledgeable! Overall vibe and experience was fine
Ok: food was hit and miss. Burgers and fish chips great! Chicken marsala was to little for price and while tasty was not special.
Bad: please when your not that full dont sit 5 at a table for really 3 maybe 4. Do everyone a favor and make people comfortable.

Solid, high quality pub food freshly made and a pleasant staff make this an easy choice at the end of a day spent outdoors. On the day of our visit, every restaurant on the street was busy, including this one, yet we were seated almost immediately and greeted by a friendly waiter who provided suggestions. The cheesesteak is legitimate sliced beef, excellently seasoned, not some Sysco frozen junk! The salmon, pulled pork sandwich and salad were also excellent.

Standout dishes included the poutine fries, crab cakes, sandwiches, and Chicken Marsala. Our server did an excellent job despite it being her first night. She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave thoughtful recommendations that matched our flavor preferences.

I have a feeling your food choices matter in determining your experience here. I will say, their flavors are wild. Lots of fusions, a lit time for the stoned. The soup came out cold at first. They kindly reheated that and got it back. Tasted good. The flavors were great for all the food. Throughly enjoyed this.

I had to try poutine on my first trip to Vermont so I came here since it was close to my hotel. The fries they use must be double fried because they are as crunchy as ever. I’m sure softer fries would soak up the gravy more. I rate it 3/5 ⭐️. My husband had a classic smash burger. SALTY AS CAN BE. Definitely would not have again. My friend highly recommends the beet dish to anyone who normally likes beets.

Great food and friendly staff.
One of the first places I’ve seen in a while with a house made veggie patty that was delicious! The beets, fries, and smash burger were good too. Would definitely come back next time we make it down to Waterbury

Really good meal with lots of local beer. Try the farmstead Hill Arthur, pretty unique! Got the classic smash burger with 2 patties. Excellent since the beef is from a local farm. British atmosphere. Absolutely recommand.

We’ve been here a couple of times when visiting family in Waterbury and food/service has always been great. They have been here many more times than us. 7 person party. Today, the service was absolutely terrible. We got there just after they opened, so they were not busy by any means. We had appetizers for at least 5 minutes before we had to wave her down to get silverware/plates. Never checked on us. Empty drinks for 15+ minutes. Never asked us how the food was. Standing around the bar, within eyesight – joking around with other servers. It made a little more sense after we got the bill and seeing the Large Party Auto Gratuity of 20% that they don’t put notice of anywhere. Can’t hold The Resevoir too accountable because it’s just the server in this case. The food is always great. Servers initials are S.M. Two star only because of the food.

Nice place, first time here in this town. First time in this restaurant. I am very comfortable being here. Customer service was great. I just could not decide what kind of restaurant brewed beer to select. I had the pilsner, it was good. Has the classic burger, I thought that was very good. As time went on, the restaurant started to fill up, but the server kept on taking care of us.

Great experience. Only had to wait a few minutes for a table on a Friday night. It was busy, but they kept things moving. Food was very good. Poutine, steak burger and Cheesesteak were all delicious. Friendly, attentive staff. Lots of people and chatter, but not loud. Still easy to have a conversation. Parking was the only challenge, either limited street parking or a somewhat pricey public lot. Worth it though!
