We ordered the calamari and what was listed as hummus with pita. When it arrived, we noticed the “hummus” was actually spinach and artichoke dip. I had to ask about it since I have an allergy and wanted to make sure a certain ingredient wasn’t included. We decided to keep it and I’m glad we did because it was absolutely delicious!! The calamari was just as good, if not better. Both appetizers were fantastic.
For our entrée, we ordered the rigatoni to share. There was a bit of confusion, as our waitress (who was also the bartender) thought we wanted it packed to go, when we actually planned to eat it and then take the rest home. She quickly fixed it in the kitchen, so really no harm done. My only guess is that since we had been sitting with appetizers for quite a while, she may have assumed we were finished eating.. I mean it was a while.
The pasta itself was cooked perfectly and the sauce was very good. However, it was topped with microgreens and cilantro which really threw me off! I’ve never had a pasta dish garnished with cilantro, especially instead of something more traditional like basil…? It felt like a strange choice and was a bit unappetizing for me.
Overall, it was a very… odd… first experience. Would I give it another shot? Yes, but I think I’d wait a bit and hope things become more organized.

We were a group of 8 so we were able to try a wide variety of dishes and they did not disappoint. First though the cocktails were delicious and appropriately alcoholic.
For appetizers I was able to try the mussels fra diavolo, excellent and with the appropriate level of spice, though some toast points would have completed the dish. Calamari was excellent though I prefer the peppers to be in slices and not chopped up, the meatball was very good as well. the brussels sprouts were absolutely delicious, though all the stuff on them sort of defeats the purpose of ordering brussel sprouts if you are looking for a healthier option!
I had a monkfish special, wrapped in prosciutto, very good with delicious mashed potatoes. I also tried the fish and chip, very good though I could eat twice as much of the fish, the salmon was good with the mascarpone/roasted tomato risotto delicious even if the the rice was a bit mushy, I would swap out the rice for fregola, chicken francese was solid as well, though swapping the mashed potatoes out for linguini was the right move.
We had three desserts, they are on the smaller side, the midnight mousse cake was the winner, the carrot cake was vigorously spiced with too much frosting for my palate and the cheesecake was solid.
The dining room is on the louder side, even when not full. Service was solid, polite, and efficient if still a bit less than polished.
All told I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and think this is one if the top 5 restaurants local to Brookfield
• The Food: Absolutely stellar. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was a hit. The flavors were bold, the presentation was artful, and you can tell the chef prioritizes high-quality ingredients.
• The Service: This is where the restaurant truly shines. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, well-versed in the menu, and genuinely seemed to care that we had a great night.
The Caveat
The only area that didn’t quite live up to the rest of the experience was the drink menu. While the cocktails were perfectly fine, they lacked the “wow” factor found in the food. They were “okay”—functional and drinkable, but perhaps a bit uninspired compared to the creative excellence of the kitchen. Overall I still gave it a 5 Star rating!!!!!!
Well decorated for sure…
Maybe a bit dark in color choices, but cozy too.
My experience is in a group setting, and with 25+ people at the table, its a bit crazy.
But they managed through it.
The orders were take around the table in order, but brought out randomly…
Thus wrong dish at the wrong guest… easily solved also.
I ordered a simple Cesar Salad with grilled chicken. Salad was as expected, but the chicken was on the heat too long and dried out…
I missed the dessert order due to phone call (taken between the outside doors) and ended up with a shot of bourbon meant for someone’s ice cream & expresso thing. Owner found across and 10seats down…
No one came back to ask if I cared for anything…
I left full, entertained by my peers, but missing my old Widow Brown’s experience.
Don’t get me wrong – Widow Brown’s and the Reserve are nothing alike…
I’d rather try to enjoy it in a smaller group or even just my wife…
