What an amazing food!!! Really they know what they’re doing. Also great vibe design and attitude from the staff. Definitely coming back to one of the best restaurants out there.
The upper floor is better by the way and the speak easy experience is great too. Highly recommended

I don’t think we could have had a more perfect experience at The Rendition Room for date night. It really had everything, from a secretive and fun atmosphere, a fantastic host/waiter/personality guiding us through it all, super-delicious cocktails, and great vegetarian options from Vitello’s menu.

We’ve been to a few speakeasies around town (and, heck, around other towns too.) How fun is it to discover a secret door and find yourself tucked away in a room one can only imagine no one else knows about?

Scott is the ultimate host, fast, detailed and so adept at preparing cocktails and making it a personal experience. It’s his world…and it’s a nice one to visit.

I had the Doctor’s Orders Cocktail – mixed perfectly…smokey, scotch, and sweet. it made me very happy. My wife thought her Mayan Skies (tequila-based with mango and more) was also pretty and tasty.

We were happy to have the full Vitello’s menu at our disposal, especially with thoughtful vegetarian/plant-based options on it. I had the Vegan Porcini Risotto…I’m not vegan and would have been perfectly happy to have regular cheese on this, but it was still full of flavor and a good-sized portion.

My wife had the Hail Caeser salad with vegan chicken. The “chicken” was nicely cooked and led to a hearty meal for her.

We’re one drink-a-night kind of people so we couldn’t dwell there and try more…but our experience, especially with the cocktails and Scott’s superb hostmanship, has us eager to come back.

This phenomenal establishment is the black pearl of Studio City. My wife and I love sharing this experience with others just don’t break the rules (unless instructed to do so). Bar Chef Scott bedazzles you with his Sharp Wit, impeccably timed comebacks, even a few zingers from behind the bar. His storied history remains a mystery but some say he served some of Hollywood’s top visionaries with liquid courage to write some of the greatest hits over the last 30 yrs. When arriving we typically choose our first concoction before being taken on a cocktail culinary odyssey. The ambiance is warm, welcoming, and dark like a Manhattan members club circa 1938 dark. Members enjoy a Vintage Locker for their most precious of Liquors. We highly recommend enjoying Tuesday -Thursdays.

By far the best speakeasy in LA! Scott the bartender was magical with the cocktails he prepared for us. Not only we’re his drinks amazing, but the service Scott and Jack gave made us feel like family. Scott’s drinks were Masterful and full of flavor.

Super cool place with some of the best drinks I’ve ever had. The bartender provides a world class experience and top of the line drinks. Call to make a reservation in advance. Highly recommend grabbing some cocktails here!

We didn’t order any food but the drinks are good. You can actually test the tequila because sometimes sweet drinks don’t have enough alcohol and the sugar overpowers the drink, but here is the perfect amount of alcohol. Staff were very polite. I love the secret room is very private and romantic Definitely we are coming back

We ate at Rendition Room the evening of March 22. The service was terrible. My husband was exited to take me he had been before. However we had to wait 10 minutes before getting water, 20 minutes before getting a drink. I noted a table with a bit more light opened up when we sat down and the waitresses lied to us about a party of 4 coming, and they sat a party of two there 2 minutes later. We were surrounded by a group of people getting a sales pitch for the membership a couple of times. We ordered a second round of drinks before dinner that never came so had zero hydration through dinner. We had to get up and ask for our own cutlery. When we asked for the bill we had to ask a second time. The bill came with the drinks we never had, we asked for them to be taken off but then they made us wait and tried to give us free drinks, also we had a birthday gathering to go to, so my husband got up to ask for the drinks to be taken off the bill again, only to find the waitress on her phone, who snapped at him to say the drinks where coming which isn’t what we asked for. I guess the service was so slow because the waitress was on her phone at the back. So the whole experience was just bad and the snappy attitude at the end when there were only 4 tables to serve was the nail in the coffin. As two people who also used to be servers in restaurants it pained us to not leave a tip. I left a review on resy to give feedback and initially wasn’t going to make our thoughts on the place public. Only to find out looking at the credit card they have over charged us. Our bill was $153 and they charged us $180. So just be careful when you eat here, you may have a terrible experience with the services.

Note: This review was originally posted under “Vitello’s Restaurant.” However, since The Rendition Room is the speakeasy located in the basement of Vitello’s it’s only appropriate that the review be shared here as well.

We were really looking forward to this spot, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were told by a staff member that the bar (The Rendition Room) we had hoped to visit was full (which is understandable—definitely make a reservation in advance). He mentioned he’d check on something and come back, but never returned. Eventually, another employee seated us, which felt like a recovery at first, but things only went downhill from there.

What followed was unacceptable: while seated, we watched five separate parties arrive and receive immediate attention—while we continued to sit there, ignored, just a few feet away. Multiple staff walked by and never once stopped to ask if we had been helped or needed anything. It was incredibly frustrating and made us feel unwelcome and overlooked.

It was hard not to feel judged based on how we looked—young, casually dressed, and not flashy. The vibe was clear: if you don’t look like you’re ready to spend a fortune, good luck getting service. After 20 minutes of being completely disregarded, we got up and left. Not a single person asked why.

A truly poor showing in hospitality, and a place we won’t be returning to. Disrespectful service, lack of communication, and zero acknowledgment of their guests. It’s one thing to be busy. It’s another to make people feel like they don’t belong. We went out of our way to be here, hoping for a fun night, and instead left feeling dismissed and honestly kind of embarrassed. Just a terrible experience all around.

EDIT: Leaving my original review below, but after not hearing back from leaving a voicemail, emailing the contact address on the receipt successfully got me a $20 refund for the double tip. I’m still frustrated that I had to fight for this a little, but I am thankful that after consistent effort on my part then the location worked with me. Happy to change my review appropriately.

Overall final conclusion: That wasn’t ideal, and I hope they change their approach to automatic gratuity in the future (I don’t mind it when it’s much more clearly marked) but with the atmosphere and service and quality of drinks I would go back. Just an unfun scare there when I first got home.

Original Review:
An otherwise lovely visit was made quite sour by a cumbersome billing process that included an unclearly marked 20% automatic gratuity – for a party of two getting drinks and appetizers. Accidentally tipped 40% this way since I was in a rush and the location is extremely dark (not terrible but bad for reading the bill) and leaving a voicemail asking to undo it got no reply and a full charge. Just disappointing, I wanted to like this spot but it felt misleading. Though the bartender was very kind the service (a smidge hard to get the bill) did not justify an automatic 20% tip, and was unclearly enough marked that it was very easy to accidentally spend 20% more than it warranted at an already expensive spot.
