If you’re looking for a welcoming neighborhood bar that nails the fun, laid-back vibe with a fun ’70s twist (shoutout to the Three’s Company nod!), look no further than The Regal Beagle. This place is pure gold—friendly staff, great drinks, solid food, and an energetic atmosphere that makes you want to stay for “just one more round.”
We popped in on a Friday evening and were immediately greeted like old friends. The bartenders are engaged, quick, and genuinely welcoming—none of that phone-scrolling nonsense. They know their craft too: the espresso martini was straight-up 10/10 (creamy, bold, perfectly balanced), and their specialty cocktails have real personality. Prices are more than fair for the quality—happy hour specials and weekly deals make it even better.
The food? Way above typical bar grub. Their pizzas are fantastic—crispy crust, generous toppings, and clearly made with care. Snacks and apps hit the spot without feeling greasy or forgettable. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a casual bite and it actually impresses.
Atmosphere is spot-on: plenty of TVs for sports (they had the Iowa State game on and the crowd was into it), a pool table in the back, games, and they host karaoke, bingo, live music—always something fun going on. The ’70s theme is playful without being over-the-top, and the whole spot feels cozy yet lively. Perfect for hanging with friends, catching a game, or just unwinding after a long week.
West Des Moines/Waukee has some solid options, but The Regal Beagle stands out as the go-to neighborhood gem. Energetic, affordable, and consistently great—our group is already planning the next visit.

We stopped for drinks and pizza after golf. The pizza was surprisingly good and the atmosphere was fun. It was April 15 and a group of accountants were having a party, well deserved!

Laid back friendly. Nice place to have a drink and chat with friends. Today the guy behind the bar told me my total and I handed him cash plus a tip. He quoted me the wrong price, and could have easily pocketed the extra and said nothing. But he came back with change and said he told me wrong. It’s great to know there is still honesty out there. I will be back!!
