The Redwood Room is exceptional in every way possible! Walk across the railroad tracks and down the stairs to incredible food, the warmest welcome, heartwarming ambiance, all while live music plays! The thoughtful care brought to your table. Food, hospitality, warmth. Since 1978 this is a timeless gem you have to visit!! Thank you Nikki for welcoming us and making our evening so special!

A cozy yet classy atmosphere with very nice live music. I was a big fan of the acoustic covers on the night I was there. The house bread and salad dressing were outstanding, and my meal was very good too. I had the vegetable curry. The rice was overcooked but the vegetables were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious.

Thank you Bria S. For such great service this evening. It was my husband’s 51st birthday and he’s not from Minnesota and hasn’t eaten at too many places here in Rochester. Bria, you were on top of your game! We have been to many places around Iowa and some in Rochester and there’s no one that has came with a refill on soda before we were done with ours. Your recommendation on the Malaysian Vegetable Curry was spot on! The flavors were absolutely amazing! I had ordered a Castle Danger Cream ale and was brought the Castle Danger IPA on tap instead. I didn’t say anything because I actually really liked it! I’m not one to complain anyway…. My husband and I will definitely be back again! Thank you!

I walked 20 mins here for an order to go. In addition to my entree I paid $14 for the Spinach and artichoke dip. I wish I had checked my bag before leaving. This photo is what I got. Just a cup of cheese. I really don’t recommend you get it. I could have bought a bag of cheese from Hy-vee for less if I just wanted to eat plain cheese. Extremely disappointed.

Everyone come here and sit in Nikki’s section. This was the best dining experience my wife and I have had in years. From the balanced flavor profile to the quaint live music. Not only is this the perfect ambiance for a romantic night, it is an experience you will not soon forget!! Truly five stars!

First time at Redwood Room. The ambience is wonderful and our server, Nikki, was amazing! She was friendly, engaging and funny. The food was also amazing. We had the Swedish meatballs and the shrimp risotto. The bread basket was also delicious as was the bruschetta. We would recommend this place and we will be coming back. It’s a small place so we advise getting there at 5 when they open. Enjoy!

What a great place! In the basement of building. Low lighting and fun atmosphere. Live music nightly from 6-9.
Fast and friendly service from the hostess, bartender, and waitress were all so friendly.
Highly recommend dill salmon and lobster ravioli. We ordered bruschetta, and it was good…however they serve bread w olive oil and Parmesan cheese before meal for free. It was delicious.
We will be back!!

My husband and I went out last night to celebrate life and a big one year anniversary of his heart transplant at Mayo. I just have to say how blown away we were by the service, atmosphere and food at The Redwood Room. Our waitress Nicky was amazing, she has been there 11 years and was incredibly kind, engaging and personable. The atmosphere was cozy, beautifully lit and filled with the beautiful sound of live music. The girl singing was so good, sounded so much like my older sister when she sings that it about brought me to tears. We shared conversations of the year anniversary of transplant and all the joys and sorrows, trials and tribulations that have followed. When asked what we were celebrating we shared the story and our waitress was so moved by it she surprised us with a crème brûlée with a candle in it. The anniversary cake at home would have to wait. The food was amazing, every bite better than the last. This place absolutely deserves the 5 star review I’m giving and we can’t wait to go back. We finally have a favorite restaurant in Rochester after 3 years of being here. Wish we hadn’t waited so long!!!!

My favorite spot in town! You can never go wrong with the classic dill salmon or chicken Milanese. Best salmon in town. Lately I have been enjoying the featured dishes that they swap out every so often. Right now featured is one of the Best fish dishes I have ever had – Barramundi Nam Jim. I always sit at the bar and Ryan is a pleasure- consistent, knows me by name, and I always trust his opinion on what to try. He recommended the Barramundi and by far one of my favorites (along with the salmon and Milanese). Always end dinner with the crème brûlée. Great live music and also a good date night atmosphere if that is what you are looking for!
