What I got – Steak Teriyaki Bento and pork egg rolls.
Food – The flavor was okay and for the price its not terrible, but the meat was dry and cold when I got it. The pork egg roll was very flavorful and the sauce was good, also it was notably warm unlike the steak.
Service – Fast and respectful they did mix up my drink and refilled it with something else but accidents happen so it didnt bother me. They rush us a little to get desserts.
Atmosphere – Plenty of space and a calm modern radio station playing. Decorations are modest but suit the vibe they were going for.
Overall – Relaxing place to sit eat with someone. Just not the best food. Would place it a step below a good buffet but above fast food.

Great first time experience at Red Lantern; the Bento box was excellent, the Tofu Soba was good, Diet Coke & a Raspberry tea as beverages.
We ordered a Seaweed Salad to go which was $8., once home we discover it was 1/4 cup of salad, extremely overpriced for the portion of Seaweed Salad, although tasty.

Chalkboard is exactly what Las Cruces needs—an elevated dining experience with a big-city feel and an eclectic twist on food that’s perfect for well-traveled foodies. This isn’t your typical chain restaurant; it’s a thoughtfully curated spot with a menu that intrigues and excites. From innovative dishes to their sushi happy hours -there’s always something new to explore. The atmosphere is inviting and full of character, making it a great spot for a night out. Don’t sleep on this hidden gem—let’s hope it sticks around because Las Cruces could use more places like this!

I ordered the pork katsu. The portions are generous, and it tasted great. My waitress was kind and quick with the service she provided. It has a nice, laid-back vibe. And they provide a military discount.

This restaurant has potential and it’s good to have another new restaurant that isn’t overpriced fast food.

I was do excited to try this place and was very disappointed. I ordered the lunch box with beef, fried rice and spring roll, California roll.
Everything lacked flavor, but the rice had a taste like the vegetables had freezer burn or old. The beef was very bitter, service was slow, I understand it was a little busy but I still waited 35 minutes for me food to come out, when it finally came it was cold. As I was waiting I noticed tables being cleared with food still left behind; that should have been a clue about the food. Most people ask for a doggie bag if the food is good.

Sorry to say I won’t be back. I don’t recommend

My first time here, the food was delicious!!
A few coworkers and myself came in for lunch on Halloween, and this place was busy.

I work just right around the corner, so not too far from my work.
I will definitely be back….soon!
Thank you!!

My husband and I stopped in for lunch. I ordered the chicken and soba noodles and my husband had the pork katsu. We also ordered the pork and veggie eggroll appetizer. Everything was delicious. Generous portions. We could have easily taken half of each meal home, but they were too good to stop. Very friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We moved from a city where there are a lot of Asian restaurant options and have been looking for a good one in Las Cruces. We’ll definitely go back.

As you can tell from the name of the restaurant, it has a chalkboard menu, therefore expect the menu to change periodically and/or seasonally.

It is a newly opened restaurant, about four months ago, per the staff. They are still getting their groove as the server that opened my sparkling water clearly didn’t know how to use a bottle opener and the server that brought our appetizer, first placed it on someone else’s table.

Despite the initial stumble on the service, the star of this place is the food. My favorite was dessert which was a pecan and apple dump cake that had green chile.

There is ample parking and has a cute plaza type outdoor seating area.
