The original Red Door Saloon that opened in 2002 in the Midtown area of Nashville, TN soon proved to be a unique addition to the Music City. Popular with locals and visitors alike and located in walking distance from Music Row, Vanderbilt University and 1 block off of Broadway. You just never know who you might see at Red Door Saloon Midtown!
Down-home bar offering drinks, hot dogs, steamed sandwiches & more with optional outdoor seating.

Red Door Saloon is easily one of the worst bars in Nashville. Security is aggressive, unprofessional, and ejects people without explanation or warning. No conversation. No de-escalation. Just hostility.
This is a terrible look for a city built on hospitality. If you think this is exaggerated, look at the pictures and decide for yourself.
What’s even worse: I personally watched this happen four times in under five minutes, completely unprovoked. Security didn’t just remove patrons they borderline assaulted them, then came outside laughing, clapping, and joking about it afterward.
The reaction in the photo says everything, people were visibly shocked by how innocent customers were consistently treated.
0/10. Low-class behavior. Avoid this place.

Great dive bar fill right off music row. Lots of beers on tap. Buffalo wing sauce was really tasty. He said they flash fried before saucing but they weren’t really crispy at all. Bartender was very attentive.

Great atmosphere and great bar staff. The food though? Wow. Cold rueben sandwich, hot dog covered in cold toppings, another hot dog heaped with toppings but ordered plain, french dip that is a funky beef sandwich but not a french dip, pizza that both people said ‘not good’. I see other reviews of people that enjoy the food so maybe we just had an off night. But the amount of food that we didn’t eat was embarrassing.

Red Door – Nashville
I had one of the most uncomfortable door experiences I’ve had in Nashville, and I found it both disgusting and shameful.
Our group arrived at Red Door dressed well and prepared to enjoy the evening after attending an industry holiday party. At the entrance, the way our group was handled felt inconsistent and unfair. One person was allowed in without being asked for ID, while another member of our group was stopped and told to remain outside because of a fake fur jacket.
There was no clear explanation, no consistent application of rules, and no attempt to handle the situation respectfully. Watching different standards applied to people in the same group was confusing and upsetting. The way this was handled felt arbitrary and, from my perspective, discriminatory in nature.
Being excluded while others were allowed to enter freely was humiliating and unnecessary, and it completely ruined what was meant to be a celebratory night. The overall experience at the door was, in my opinion, disgusting and shameful.
This reflects very poorly on how Red Door manages its entrance and the individuals representing the venue. Based on this experience, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this establishment!

Great food. Seasoned and hot. Great people. Nice space to hang out.

My expectations weren’t high (I figured it was just like any other bar in downtown), but I’m genuinely blown away. Bartenders were super attentive (shout out Maxine) and drinks were nice and strong. Surprisingly the food was delicious – we got the pretzel bites and the pork rinds and they came out fresh and hot. We also had the pesto chicken panini and it may be one of the tastiest pesto sandwiches in the city. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

We came because we wanted to see the skeletons in the basement and so glad we did! Cute space hand breading their delicious tenders, scratch made dressings and fries!
The coleslaw was especially crisp and delicious.
Make sure to have ID handy as they card everyone.
The bartender was friendly and super knowledgeable about the space and area.
I definitely recommend stopping in!

I had a decent experience with the food and drink service earlier in the evening, but the way the night ended was awful.
Around 15 minutes before closing, while I was already walking toward the exit, I made a sarcastic comment about the closing time. A bouncer then approached me, grabbed the front of my jacket, pulled me to the ground aggresively, and physically dragged me the rest of the way out of the bar and down the entrance ramp in front of other patrons.
I was already leaving the establishment and was not resisting or causing a disturbance, which made the level of force used feel unnecessary and embarrassing.
Tennessee is usually known for friendly hospitality, so the way this situation was handled was surprising and disappointing. I hope the management takes situations like this seriously and reviews how guests are treated during closing time. I’m shocked at what just happened.

This may have been the worst experience of my life. I come in and order 4 drinks and a water. Not only do I get attitude for simply placing my order (meanwhile it’s 12am and they close at 3am) but after I already (very generously based on the insane attitude I’ve already received) tipped 20% I ask for 1 more glass of water for a friend of mine and I get the most egregious eye roll as if it’s the most inconvenient task of the bar tenders life while I watch her prepare it before my eyes in .00002 seconds. Who would’ve thought this inquiry would get me kicked out of the bar!!!! All I did was ask for water and suddenly this rude bar tender (tall, blonde curly hair) calls security on me!! I’ve been a loyal customer almost every weekend and to be treated like this was seriously disheartening. I asked security why they were taking me out to which they responded “I don’t know but I don’t care to know”. Also, I am completely sober while this happens and I have my entire family who flew in from 18 hours away coming to visit. We had JUST gotten out to enjoy the town, all sober and looking to enjoy our time together. I told security the story and they evidently didn’t care about what I had to say. I later returned after my family came back for me and they told me I had already been kicked out and they wouldn’t let me back in regardless of the lack of issues I actually caused. Safe to say I will never be asking for a drink from this rude bar tender at red door again because clearly it’s such an extreme inconvenience to get people drinks when it’s a bar to begin with and that’s truly the only responsibility involved. I’m extremely disappointed as this was our first night, and as I called multiple times to speak to someone with some common sense the lines disconnected time after time. You shouldn’t hire bar tenders who can’t even handle the simplest of customers/orders. Crazy experience and a group of people who lack complete and utter common sense.

We didn’t order food so I cannot comment on it. As far as a fun place to hangout and drink? Hell yes! We ventured here because we like local spots with locals, not hanging out in tourist town. Loved it and will be back hopefully this year for another fun adventure.
