My husband and I had such a great time at The Rathskeller! The vibe is so unique and inviting, with amazing live music that set the perfect mood for the night. We ordered espresso martinis, and it was absolutely delicious—probably one of the best we’ve had! The whole experience felt special, from the atmosphere to the drinks. We’ll definitely be coming back!!

Ups and BIG Downs

Visiting from out of town. The atmosphere was nice and the music was on point—but unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.

The service was lacking. While the staff was somewhat polite, their knowledge of the menu and offerings was limited. When my drink arrived, it was incorrect, and I had to go to the bar myself to have it fixed. When I informed my server, it was brushed off as if it were an inconvenience.

On top of that, the wine pours were noticeably under a standard glass pour, yet charged at full price.

Overall, the service was disappointing. The musicians were great, and they deserve credit for creating a good vibe that night. However, based on the service experience, I wouldn’t return or recommend this place.

Great vibes, history and live 1930’s jazz music with no cover. A true speakeasy atmosphere. The drinks and service are top notch. No food available but you can bring your own food in. Bar service only the night we were there but signs said, “Have a seat and someone will be with you” so that was confusing.

That is really the great bar!
If you love cocktails, this is where you should be!
Classics are perfect, but if you want some experiments, ask bartender for that, just explain him direction.
All team who work here is really nice!
Wish to.come back once.

Tried this on a Thursday night. What a fun experience! They had a jazz group playing and with the lighting and the ambiance I felt like I should have a flapper dress on. The beers were nice (the hotel above gave us a BOGO). The story of the place really sells it. A really cool space and a fun atmosphere!

This spot if perfect for a date night. We enjoyed stopping by for a drink and even learning a little history of the building from our server. Service was exceptional and the vibes were even better. Thank you!

Very nice atmosphere. When we came in, it was very busy on a Friday night, and seating was limited. We had to wave the waiter in. Drinks were good and strong. It’s quite noisy when it’s packed. We parked inside the ramp 2 blocks away or street parking if available.

My husband and I went on a busy Friday night. We waited in a long line for my husband to get a beer. When my husband tried to order a beer from the bartender, he stated, “I can’t get you that right now. You’ll have to go see my buddy.” Needless to say, we left and most likely won’t have any desire to return. We went to another establishment and were able to get a beer and had a great time!

This was my favorite bar in duluth, hands down. Bartender was amazing and made a phenomenal old fashioned. Atmosphere was just perfectly balanced with dim lights and low music, with a 1920s vibe. Amazing drinks, amazing atmosphere. If you’re in the area, stop by and check out this speakeasy.
