We have been wanting to try The Rail for a while so we finally went last night. The setting is very cool and I love the historic building. The host was friendly and we were seated right away. It took some time before anyone came over to get our drink order and once placed it also took some time. It was a bit busy so no worries. We ordered an appetizer for table. The boneless chicken was very good and nachos were just average. Between the five of us there were two cheesesteaks and three burgers ordered. All were VERY good. I had the Westbound burger and it was cooked perfectly, juicy, full of flavor and just what I wanted. Everyone else had similar experience. The live band started to play and we were looking forward to staying for them but their music selection was not our taste. Overall I would go back again. Maybe service was an off night. Definitely try the burgers! And maybe a different band would have kept us there all night.

Tonight on the way home from @PeddlersVillage , the @OldPubClub found another establishment, in #WhitehouseStation , that has been around longer than us. This building was built in 1845 and opened for business in 1846 as the Union Hotel when the Central Railroad of New Jersey first came to Readington.
After the hotel closed, the building became a the home to several restaurants throughout the years. The location was called Flamingo’s when the television show “Kitchen Nightmares” came in and rebranded the place and named it The Junction. Chef Gordon Ramsey helped revamp the restaurant. By calling it The Rail, they are honoring the railroad theme, being in this historic building, so close to the tracks. With its mix of great cocktails, service and delicious dishes, it’s a must stop if you are in the area. @TheRailNJ #TheRail #OldPubClub #OPC

Service was great but a bit slow. In their defense they were short handed when we went. Great prices and the food was really good. Especially loved the crispy fries. Ample parking surrounding the restaurant

We go to The Rail every so often, usually on Tuesdays for T-Bone Tuesday. The steak itself is good, but lately they’ve had a hard time getting the temperature right. We ordered it rare on our last visit and it came out closer to medium.

The mashed potatoes are delicious, and the salads are always fresh. The drinks are good as well. We prefer sitting at the bar, but it’s small, so sometimes we end up at a high-top instead.

Overall, it’s a solid spot with good food, and we just hope the steak temperatures become more consistent.

Really a very fun place. Lively atmosphere built around the band. The appetizers were amazing, including the drunken fire clams and the Buffalo calmari. decent wine list, Great Martini options and incredible burgers!

First time guest here, alone for lunch so sat at the bar, greeted nicely by Karen the bartender, what a delight she is. I’m a French Onion soup fanatic so I started with that, (I should be the Dave Portnoy of F.O. Soups lol), it was very tasty and the char on top was wonderful. Next I wanted a burger, asked her for suggestions, she loves the horseradish burger which sounded yummy, then said The Rail burger is quite popular, so I opted for that. It was absolutely delicious! Cooked Med-Rare, with crispy bacon. I’ll definitely stop back in again to try their pork chops which I hear are outstanding. Thank you Karen! Murph from Branchburg.

Location is great. We had a train come by while we were dinning which was interesting. They have a nice patio seating area. Location is great but food wise It’s an average dinner like restaurant that serves alcohol and cocktails. Drinks were also good, unfortunately food was below average more like eating at a diner. Service was excellent, very friendly server.

They were open on a Monday so worked out for us after work. But gosh seriously food needs a lot of attention. The chicken in the sandwich my husband ordered was not fully cooked and loaded with cheese when we specifically requested no cheese. My lobster ravioli were just okay, sauce wasn’t great. Maybe it was a bad night for the chef. But not returning.

This little gem was quite the pleasant surprise on our way through NJ. Wings are crispy skin and tender, the onion rings are perfect with the chipotle aioli and the mozzarella wedges had about a foot of cheese pull! My husband had the Rail burger. He couldn’t finish it because it was so big. One patty but about an inch thick and actually fits the whole bun. Daughters had the poke bowl and chicken quesadillas. So much food and they both said both things were the best they’ve had in their life (14 and 16) and they’ve had those A LOT!

Staff was friendly and I felt bad there was really only one person serving all tables at lunch plus bartending. Service didn’t slack because of this! She kept up with all tables and she busted her butt!

I cannot give this place enough kudos. Great food, amazing service!! In a quiet little town but would be worth the drive to go here again from Ohio. Go check them out. It’ll be worth it!

The Rail at Readington is outstanding. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care , every dish feels like a standout. The staff is friendly and attentive without ever being pushy, and the whole place has a warm, inviting vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. It’s easily one of the best spots in the area and absolutely worth the trip every time.

The Rail was a surprise for me and a guest. Large portions served just in time and most important it was super hot from the kitchen. We both enjoyed our meal along with attentive service. Reservation a good idea as the place fills up quickly. Good work to have the kitchen spot on!
