It’s small. Real small. The kind of place that could fit in your grandmother’s formal living room but somehow holds enough spirit to light up the block. Locals slide in like it’s their second home, and if you’re not one of them? Doesn’t matter. You will be by your second drink.
I showed up a stranger. Left feeling like a regular.
The cocktails? Crafted like love letters. Bold enough to grab your attention, smooth enough to keep you coming back. And yeah, you can day drink here. In fact, it might be the best place on earth to day drink—sunlight slipping through the windows, time stretching out like it forgot to set an alarm.
The Rabbit Hole isn’t a bar. It’s a secret handshake. A soft landing. A beautiful blur. Go once, and you’ll go again.
My husband and i (me in my late 20s him in his 30s) RESERVED a table at the rabbit hole for Valentine’s Day. We decided to spend our Valentine’s Day special dinner at the rabbit hole.
We live two neighborhoods away from lost rabbit, and we had never been to the rabbit hole. We were excited to get to dress nicely and experience somewhere new that was so close to our house.
We arrived at exactly the time of the reservation. There was one table of five senior aged people already in the building and no one else present. I have photographic proof of this. Our waitress Chloe asked us for our drink orders and was kind while speaking to us.
A table of four sat behind us, and an additional table of 4/5 sat in front of us. I watched Chloe take both tables drink orders and serve them their drinks. I watched the appetizers come out for all the tables. After we ordered our app and entree, we received our two drinks approximately fifteen minutes after both new tables. They already had their appetizers. Our appetizer did finally arrive, but again, we were the absolute last served.
By this time there is two additional tables of people seated. I watched every. Single. Person. In the room receive their entree before us (It was a valentines special. There were two entree options. All plates were the same. My husband and i ordered ONE ENTREE to split).
Chloe informed every table that a second wave of reservations would be seated at 7pm and our dining tables would need to be clear by then.
I swear I’m not kidding: she told FOUR tables around us that their time at their tables would have to end at 7pm.
This lady walks three steps from one table over to our table (the tables were pretty crammed, which is why i could hear everything) and tells us our time at our table would have to end by 6:45.
What even is the purpose of giving us 15 less minutes??
We arrived a solid 15 minutes before any other table was seated.
At 6:15 when we still didn’t have our entree, My husband said, “she does realize that in order for us to leave at 6:45 we have to actually get our food, right?”
At this point, i look at my husband and am just baffled at the way we’re being treated. I said, “it’s just one of the same plates why is it so difficult to spare one for us??”
Chloe just so happened to be close to our table. I’m assuming she heard me, because I watched her go into the kitchen, and within 3 minutes a man from the kitchen came out and placed our plate on our table. Our steak that we ordered ‘Medium’ was cold and blue in the middle. I’m not exaggerating. Around an inch of the thickness of the steak was cold and raw.
I asked for the check as soon as possible.
I’m so heart broken and disappointed.
I don’t know if we looked like we weren’t important? It shouldn’t matter though, our money spent the same as theirs tonight.
We won’t be back
Their food, however, leaves a lot to be desired.
We ordered the Jamaican Street Chicken Wings and Spicy Pepperoni flatbread.
The wings were fatty and not seasoned well. The 1st flatbread was burnt (almost charred – not sure how they didn’t notice that), and they brought us a 2nd flatbread after we brought this to their attention. The 2nd flatbread wasn’t flavorful.
I don’t recommend it.
