Customer service here is absolutely top-notch, and the team made me feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. Ambiance is a perfect 10/10 whether you’re enjoying live music inside or soaking up river views outside. If you’re looking for tasty food, friendly staff, and great scenery, The Quarry Tap Room is an easy recommendation for any day out in Hallowell.
It was busy, but not so busy that we were able to walk in and get a table right away. This is where the positive experience ended and went down Bill quickly from here.
Appetizers came out a few minutes before our dinner dinner did. Though not a huge issue, not having time to eat said appetizers before dinner defeats the purpose of getting them. Appetizers are meant to extend your stay and order more from the bar, not be apart of your main course.
Speaking of which, my wife and son ate theirs with no complaints. Mine, a pizza, came out several minutes after theirs did. To add a bit more context, the length of time I had to wait to receive my meal was long enough for my wife and son to finish their meals along with the waitress letting us know twice my meal was on its way out. By the time it arrived l, I asked for a to-go box as I was ready to leave.
The waitresses lack of service didn’t help either. Not checking to see how the meals were, asking if we wanted to order another drink , or just noticing my frustration as I watched my family eat their meals while I waited for mine showed a lack of experience and concern for the customer.
Did I speak to a manager about this? No, but I should have. Did we leave a tip for our lack luster service? Yes, but we shouldn’t have. Even with the current cost of meals, I still try to tip well. Though I wanted to leave $5 for a bill pushing $100, my wife left $10. Looking back, I would have been fine with leaving nothing for a tip.
Sadly l would of had a better experience at a chain restaurant or another local restaurant. Sadly, I won’t be going back
From the moment we walked in, it felt welcoming. It’s a quaint little spot with character — the kind of place where you can grab a drink, relax, and just be yourself. There was music and dancing, and while I’m not much of a dancer, it was honestly refreshing just being there. The energy was fun, laid-back, and genuine.
What stood out most to me was how comfortable I felt. I’m not from here, and I don’t exactly blend in everywhere I go, but none of that mattered. No judgment. No weird vibes. Just good people enjoying themselves. Coming from Florida, it felt like stepping into something totally different in the best way.
If you’re looking for a place in Augusta where you can unwind, feel welcome regardless of your status in life or how you look, and just enjoy a real night out — Quarry Tap Room is it. I’m grateful Brandon and Trisha brought me there. It was a breath of fresh air when I needed one most.
My family went during lunch time on Labor Day so I didn’t mind waiting 45min to get and outdoor table. When we were finally seated, it took a little patience for drinkts to eventually get delivered, but luckily none of us were starving or else the 30min it took for our food to be served would have been crippling.
Unfortunately, after easily over an hour of waiting, a simple plate of chicken tenders and fries was one minute away from being burnt. I’m no food snob, but expecting golden brown tenders is not a high bar to clear. Mine were brownish black and the batter had absolutely no seasoning so the oil that it was bathing in was the only flavor available outside the sauce I could dip in.
The fries they came with, which were their own separate menu item described as “sprinkled with salt and pepper” simply were not. Again, no seasoning at all. Just cut potatoes that tasted like the oil they were made in.
The saving grace was the cole slaw and aoili that gave the plate a flavor that wasn’t…oil.
All in all, I technically could have gotten tastier chicken and fries from McDonalds and spent 1/2 the price.
My waitress was attentive and kind, but the chef may have been silently protesting on Labor Day which I totally support because I would’ve rather the place been closed than have had such a bummer of a basic dish.
To start off, the food is excellent. I had the fish tacos with french fries. The tacos are super messy, but delicious. Tons of spice in it, if you like spice I definitely recommend it. Ordered fried lasagna bites, really tasty, only a hint of it being lasagna but still really good. My husband had fish and chips, the fish was really flaky and filling. Really good flavor. French fries were good also. I ordered the alcohol drink markers manhattan, trust me when I say don’t order that, it’s terrible and I chugged it down as fast as I could only because I paid for it. You get only one black cherry and that’s gross too.
Now on to the bad. Out of respect I’ll leave the name of the waitress out, and while she was reasonably nice, she lacked attentiveness and observation, never checked back to ask how the food was until the end, she didn’t even bring the food to the table. Another girl who is a young blonde who was new brought out our food and she was a pleasure, asked us if we needed anything else and was exceptionally polite. I believe her name is Haiden. Just because the waitress herself wasn’t very attentive doesn’t mean she was bad at her job but she needs to make sure her tables are all set and not just dissappear most of the service. My goal isn’t to get anyone in trouble which is why I didn’t include her name but if others followed Haiden’s observation with the customers service in general would be even better.
The bathroom was exceptionally clean and huge, plenty of space to move around, a cabinet you can use to put your phone on it or whatever. The door to the bathroom has cool decor. The bar itself has plenty of tables and seating, but we sat in the dining room, plenty of tables everywhere. They have tables outside to eat as well. They have two tv’s in the bar. Parking is kinda crazy. It’s on the street parking but you can also park out back. Free parking.
Overall, 4 stars! <3
