Purple Cow is a reliable stop for us when we’re out shopping and want a quick sandwich, hamburger, soup, or salad. I wouldn’t call the food spectacular. It’s not bad, either — just somewhere in-between

My choice today was a chicken salad sandwich, which I found on the bland side, lacking the crunch of celery of good, old-fashioned chicken salad. The only really discernible seasoning in my chicken salad today was ground black pepper. My dining companion had a chili dog that he described as tasting stale, though the bite I tasted of it tasted fine. I liked that the chili had recognizable bits of tomato, pepper, and onion with a good strong cumin flavoring — this in contrast to the dark glop most places serve over hot dogs, ground beef and flavored tomato-based chili sauce cooked together until it’s thick and dark.

Atmosphere: sort of a cross between a mid-20th-century diner and a hamburger joint. One of my pet peeves with many Arkansas restaurants, which got driven home to me all over again when we went to Purple Cow today: if restaurants have a greeter to welcome you and take you to a table, the greeter should ALWAYS be there when any customers walk through the door. If not, other staff in the place, many of whom always see a customer standing and waiting to be greeted and seated, should come up, welcome the customer, and say that the greeter will be there right away. Welcoming customers is so very important, and it’s just not the strong suit of many restaurants in Little Rock, sad to say.

Overall, a decent place to eat. Shakes are delicious. Wait staff were very nice and entertaining.

Food came quick. My Patty Melt was quite good. My wife’s Tuna Melt was disappointing however. It had hardly any tuna, was not grilled but toasted. Cheese was NOT melted and though menu indicated water chestnuts — NONE were present. She ordered it especially for the water chestnut specifically. Oh well…

Fun FAMILY restaurant (award winner)! Kaeris is an excellent server; friendly and patient with questions and giving extra time to decide what to order. The 1/2 lb steak knife burger is huge! Husband said it was delicious My garden burger was great too. Purple vanilla ice cream is fun; yummy brownie . Great for groups of 8-10 people too. Highly recommend!

My first visit recommended by my 11 year old grandson. I was so impressed with the hostess and waitress and we were just ordering to go. Friendly fast and delicious!! Definitely will be staying for our next meal. Been a long time since having that great of service, especially getting to go. Purple Cow you are very lucky to have such wonderful people working for you! Keep up the fabulous work!

My first time trying Purple Cow, even though I’ve lived just around the corner for five years—and I was seriously impressed!

The double cheeseburger was juicy, hot, and massive. I’d absolutely order it again. The gluten-free bun was just as good as a regular one, which is a rare and welcome surprise. I was genuinely happy with the entire experience.

I ordered online and everything went smoothly—no issues at all. I also got the Ruffles chips but didn’t end up trying them… I was only there for the burger, and it delivered.

I’ll definitely be back!

Always a good time! The food was fresh and tasty. Didn’t really like the fried mushrooms. My burger needed some salt but everything was overall great. If you don’t leave with a purple shake I don’t know why you came! Lol

What a cool diner! My daughter’s favorite color is purple, so we knew we’d stop in on our weekend in Little Rock. Little did we know that we’d enjoy it so much we came back a second night! The purple vanilla milkshake is actually so delicious. The vanilla flavor is front and center. My husband said his burger was in the top 3 best he’s ever had. If we’re ever in LR again, we’ll definitely come back!

We had a blast at The Purple Cow!!!

Our server was amazing, he handled our large group with ease and made ordering a breeze!

We had several great items. Blue cheese burger, Steak burger, Tuna melt, Hot Chocolate Lava Cake, coffee shake, & peanut butter chocolate shake.

The restaurant had plenty of seating and was kind of like an old fashioned diner.

Never have I been more disappointed in a milkshake!!! Ordered a to-go Elvis Milkshake. I’ve never spent that much on a milkshake & it was a special occasion so I splurged. I could not drink it at all! When I finally got home I took off the lid and the whole thing was full of SLICED bananas & those dont go through a straw. So I call Purple Cow & let them know I have a “milkshake?” that was not blended AT ALL etc etc etc & was told THATS HOW THEY MAKE IT!!! why is it called a MILKSHAKE then???.

Visiting the Purple Cow in Chenal was a great experience, it was our first visit and wont be our last. The diner was clean, cheerful and staff very welcoming. I had to order the famous purple milkshake. it was thick, purple and delicious! our waitress was very familiar with the menu highly complementary of her cook staff. Steakhouse bacon ranch cheeseburger or the smaller plain cheeseburgers tasted better than a lot of “steakhouse burgers”.
