Great vibe and the couch is the best spot in the house! got the brie/apple/fig jam panini…was great, just a bit too much on the sweet side. side of macaroni salad was decent, just bland. my friend got the cobb salad which was good. also tried the vegan fudge balls which were so good!! overall, reasonably priced and will be going back!

The baked bread smells amazing from outside of the restaurant and is what “drew” us inside. It’s a small family style delicatessen- soups, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, smoothies, desserts, etc. It was a large conference in town so it was a little overwhelming for them to process but they did well. The food was decent and the prices (especially for desserts) were amazing. Worth a try.

Too often will I order avocado toast from a place and the avocado itself will be under seasoned, or not at all. The avocado was perfectly seasoned, the poached eggs also perfect.

Ten senior citizens from VT had the most delicious lunch at the Purple Carrot. A variety of sandwiches were ordered, some bakery treats, several loaves of Purple Carrot bread, and oh my…..EVERYONE was totally happy with their meals and all their other purchases. The staff was very accommodating and quickly put tables together so the group could eat together. The restaurant had so many wonderful sandwich and salad choices, it was hard to decide. I don’t think any of us had the same thing, and we all talked about how happy we were with our meals (so yummy) and the service. I’m so glad we chose the Purple Carrot for our luncheon excursion. We went to Lowell to visit the Boott museum and ventured out to find a place for lunch. What a great choice we made! If and When we go back to Lowell, we are sure to eat at the Purple Carrot Bakery. We loved it!!!!!

We found the Purple Carrot today after visiting one of the local museums. The smell of fresh bread when you walk in is like heaven. We had ten in our group and staff quickly moved tables together for us. The food was amazing and several of us left with loaves of bread and pastries. Will definitely be visiting again and recommend this cafe for breakfast, lunch, and fresh baked breads!

Everything is spectacular at Purple Carrot. The desserts are to die for, especially the cookies, I love the breakfast cookies.

I heard about this cafe and was excited to check it out, thinking I may have found a new place to hang out and get coffee downtown. When I entered the first thing I noticed was the lack of music or anything a typical cafe would make sure to include for the sake of ambience or a semi-pleasant environment. I sat at the couch near the window, where my sister pointed out this sign. I don’t even know where to start with this, read the attached image for yourself….. first off, what makes the owner think a sign like this would be good for their business?? it’s genuinely one of the most unprofessional things I have seen in my life. the message made us extremely uncomfortable as my sister and I are both “young people”. It created a hostile environment, and made me feel unwelcome in the cafe. The language in the sign is unbelievably condescending; the whole thing is awfully specific and seems like a matter that should be settled one-on-one rather than aired out to all your clientele. Also, how on earth do you expect to gain customers when you shame people for wanting to sit in your cafe? You do know what a cafe typically is, right? If you don’t want people to sit, make it into a diner style place. It is so incredibly out of touch to blame young people for your business failing when 1. you’re located between a highschool and a college and 2. your REAL issue is due to your own financial irresponsibility, not some teenagers hoping to use your wifi. The real kicker is this: the sign says you want people to buy something in order to sit in the cafe, but then the menu says you will change the prices at any time WITHOUT NOTICE. I didn’t take a photo of that but believe me I was shocked. Not everyone can afford to buy something, especially if your menu isn’t even accurate. Anyways, all of these factors have ruined the establishment for me and I will not be returning; it’s a shame, because the location is great.

This place is the bomb from front to back. Food and atmosphere are to die for. And the staff are just incredible. When you walk in the door the smell of fresh baked bread smacks you in the face.

We miss having a loaf from The Purple Carrot every week. The food is delicious and affordable, and the staff is very kind. I’ll never forget my daughter’s first trip to a restaurant being The Purple Carrot. Everyone was so nice to the new, tired parents and the newborn!

Unexpectedly had some of the best spicy peanut sauce i’ve ever had for their thai chicken bowl! So good I almost considered buying the sauce separately to eat with some springrolls!
