This place is AWESOME!!! The bartenders and GM are VERY knowledgeable in beers/cocktails. The bar food was most excellent. I cleaned my plate. Great place to have conversations and meet new bar friends!!!

Had the “winter salad” which was AMAZING and a delicious non-alcoholic beer. Great selection of non-alcoholic beverages in general! Celebrated a friend’s birthday who comes here every year and I’ll definitely be back!

Third time here and it’s an absolute gem. The burger is consistently delicious and the beer selection is excellent.
Their service is on point and here’s why:

Brian M our server was on top of it on a busy Saturday night, quick and attentive, I noticed the price of my Buffalo Trace was different on the printed menu from the online menu, I didn’t mind the price difference bc I was happy to pay it (it was a great old fashioned) but after I pointed out the price difference…he thanked me for letting them know and comped my drink! It wasn’t necessary at all but I really appreciate that kind of response.
Secondly, I ordered the fish and chips, which is the best fish and chips I’ve ever had (shout out to the kitchen staff!) But the fish portion was a little small. I’m assuming the manager clocked it, came over and said that’s a small piece of fish let me get you another one. She came out with a piece of fish twice the size. That’s good service!
It’s cozy, quality and exactly what you want on a cold night or a hot day. Good people, great food and drinks. Thank you Publick House !

Awesome spot for such a wide variety of beers! They have everything you could imagine and are super knowledgeable if you want a suggestion and are curious to try something new. The food is pretty great as well and I love how the menus change over so you can go every few months and know you’ll see different things. Cheeseburger nachos are crazy good when they have them. As well as one of my favorites brews… Duchesse Cherry which is rare to find.

The Publick House offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for hanging out with friends and family or watching a game. The mussels and steak and eggs are standout dishes, though some mussels may still contain sand. The friendly and attentive service enhances the dining experience.

Always such a great experience! Gluten free due to celiac and they do a fantastic job. Gf fryer for fries and great burgers. Always have a few cider options and sometime gf beer. Non-gf food is also stellar. Weekly spot for us!

Stayed at the Publik House on a Saturday evening in June 2025, on our way to the Cape for vacation. We were impressed with the historic setting, immediate nostalgia we felt while walking the grounds, the staff were exceptional, kind and pleasant… and the food … well hands down it was the best meal we have had in a long time! Tender 1/2 chicken roasted slow, savory meatloaf, with the best lemon chiffon cake for dessert! And don’t forget their sweet rolls with Pecans on top! Wonderful, wonderful stay, all around!

June 2025 review: Public House has been DOGEd
This wonderful staple restaurant has had someone cut costs to the point where the food that we typically get is just bad/ inedible.
DOGE: they no longer offer 1/2 size mussels. The price is 30-40% higher than last year. The amount of mussels is cut in 1/2 at least. The “POT” is no longer a pot – it’s a small bowl. The bowl to put the empty mussel shells is gone – DOGEd. We used to fight over the sauce – but it’s been DOGEd – no fat, no butter, no flavor EXCEPT bitter rosemary. We didn’t finish it. The wonderful slices of side bread are 1/4 as thick -DOGEd! The fries basket is now a little cup with tiny nubs of fries that you have to delicately pick out – DOGEd.

The fish and chips was also DOGEd – 1/2 the size of fish and at least 30% more expensive. The breading recipe changed-less flavor/less goodness. The extra tartar sauce found itself as an extra $1.00 – DOGEd.

Attached to this review is last year’s mussel pot and this year’s. DOGEd in full display.

Service is still great – however Public House used to be full most of the time – it was 1/3 empty on a Friday night. We all sense the DOGEness. We won’t come back – maybe next summer – Public House will have found its sanity again.

I love public house. Great burgers and awesome mussels in amazing broth. PLUS amazing selection of beers. I love how covid safe they are being- we ate outside under a heat lamp. Thank you for being an institution for this neighborhood.

Food was good. Burgers were expencive but good. Very good friendly people. Food came out fast. Its so dark its hard to read the menus but that adds to the vibe . Cool decor great place for a romantic bar vibe date. I would go again.

I gave 3 Star because as a repeated customer, food has always been great. The issue we had is that last night, service wasn’t a good as usual. We felt the waiter wasn’t too engaging at our table as he was with the others. On top of that, he kept cleaning people’s table and putting the dirty dishes on a table nearby instead of bring them to the kitchen or somewhere else. Nothing like trying to eat with dirty dishes next to us. It was not a good experience.
