We had intended to visit this restaurant for a long time and I am so glad we finally did! the food was fresh, homemade and delicious. I had the roast beef special and it was fork tender and flavorful. My husband had one of their namesake potatoes and it definitely did not disappoint; perfectly baked and loaded with goodness. To finish off, we had homemade peach cobbler muffins that made me think I’d died and gone to heaven! We washed it down with sweet tea that was a special family recipe and really hit the spot. On top of that, the owner was so nice and attentive, and just made the whole experience the perfect lunch date. You should absolutely go visit and support this local Highland Lakes family business!

Great and cute little place. There’s a nice boutique in the back as well. Their baked potatoes are very soft and very good. My dad and I come here 2-3 times a week for lunch. I always get the sweet tea which isn’t traditional but AMAZING with the macaroni which is home made. My dad usually gets the rib plate with a loaded backed potato. When my sister joins she gets the pineapple chicken salad which comes in a large portion and she loves it. I would also very highly recommend the chicken sandwich, it comes with beans and chips. *pictures are Mac and cheese, rib plate, sweet potato, and 1/2 pineapple chicken sandwich*

My mom has been telling me about this place and we finally went. It was AMAZING! The food was delicious! We got the pulled pork loaded baked potatoes and the strawberry salad with raspberry dressing. Then we ended it with their banana split cheesecake!! The tables they have are so cute! It makes you feel like you’re eating at home. The service was great! They made sure we had everything we needed. Can’t wait to go back.

If you’re anywhere near Kingsland, Texas and you don’t stop at The Potato Shack, you’re doing life wrong.
I’m not being dramatic—this place will straight-up end your relationship with every other baked potato you’ve ever loved. You thought you had a good one once? No. That was a sad, hot rock with some cheese thrown at it.
The Potato Shack doesn’t bake potatoes—they serve up something so good it shuts you up mid-bite.
It’s that perfect kind of Baked potato.Cracked open evenly. Toppings? Not slapped on—layered with intention. Melted cheese that actually melts. Meats that are cooked to perfection. Every forkful tastes like someone cared. Like someone said, “This right here is gonna be the best part of their day,” and then made damn sure it was.
The portion sizes? Offensive. In the best possible way. You will either need a nap, a wheelbarrow, or a second stomach. Maybe all three. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
I would sell state secrets for another bite. I would throw hands with my past self for not discovering this place sooner. I would fistfight a raccoon in the parking lot for the last loaded Shack Spud.
This is not a suggestion. This is a call to action.
Get in your car. Go to The Potato Shack. Eat the damn potato.
You’re welcome.
Spent 11$. Buttery Baked potato, Cheese, and Double Bacon Bits.

Tonight my daughter surprised me when picking up her order and brought me home an amazing treat! Kahlua cheesecake! This was probably the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten. It wasn’t overly sweet but was incredibly rich and absolutely delicious! Y’all absolutely have got to stop by and support this small business! The food and service is incredible!

My spouse ordered three sandwiches for takeout. The tab was $50.21. The sandwiches were mediocre at best and badly (in my opinion) over priced. The meatloaf and chicken habanero sandwiches were just okay. My chicken salad sandwich was very bland and sparse on chicken salad ($16.00+) and long on a dry tasteless bun.
Compared to other deli shops (Darci’s and Subway to name two) in the area, the Potato Shack is high on price and low on product.
The restaurant is very nice in appearance.
Service was prompt.

We came just for cheesecake, after reading another review raving about it. They were out of oreo and strawberry cheesecakes, so we got the banana split and 3 kalhua cheesecakes. First, portion was disappointing, this is not a tall thick slice, this is FLAT. When we tried to dig into them, they were partially thawed/frozen. Flavor was nothing special, though maybe it would’ve tasted better and had better texture if not frozen. It is super cute inside, but I wish we would’ve been told they were all barely thawed, or they would’ve discounted them or something.
