While seated at my table, the owner came up behind me and intentionally banged on the back of my chair multiple times. About 10–15 minutes later, he returned, did it again, and this time touched my back between my shoulder blades while aggressively telling me to move my chair. I told him, “Please don’t touch me,” which caused him to become irate and deny touching me at all.
I explained that I had moved my chair slightly because people walking to the bathroom were physically pushing me into the table, and there had been no issues after I moved. He never introduced himself, began yelling that he was the owner, and demanded that I move my chair or table. He pointed us to a dirty table covered in the previous guests’ trash and told me to sit there instead.
He continued making aggressive demands like “get up now” and “move now.” He was rude, confrontational, and completely unprofessional. He even looked directly at one of my friends (who had not said a single word) and told him “the door is there.”
I was not combative, threatening, or rude. I had not received the one drink I ordered yet and had not consumed any alcohol. Despite this, he treated me like a problem rather than a customer. After I stood up to leave, he alerted security and staff to watch me until I exited, and even followed us outside to point us out to security again.
Multiple employees apologized for his behavior, which says a lot. As a general manager myself, I would never speak to or physically touch a customer the way this man did. This was a clear abuse of authority and a complete lack of basic customer service and respect.
My friends and I will never return, and I will be sharing this experience with others.
