We tried the Porch after hearing many positive reviews. We started off with the Kentucky Glazed Sprouts. The brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. My wife ordered the French Dip with a side of French onion soup. I ordered the Sirloin Sandwich with Saratoga chips and a side salad. My meal was amazingly good and served nice and hot. The shaved sirloin was marinated and smoked which gave it a one of a kind flavor. My wife’s French dip was perfect and she said it tied for first place. (along with the French onion soup at Ford’s Garage). It was very fresh with garden raised onions and delicious. I should add that this is a family owned business who sources their own ingredients including meat. Very impressive in my book! The service was great. Our waitress was very kind and helpful.

My husband and I stopped in to eat for lunch for a first time.
The place looks so neat and beautiful. Our meals were delicious. We ordered fish and fries also burger. The price is pretty expensive. I love the old fashion sink in women s restroom.

This place being in such a small town had a varied selection to choose from. Omelets, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, specialty drinks, beers. Large indoor and porch area to dine. Fenced in playground area around back.

Solid Menu, Great service and staff.
I’ve eaten here for years and never had a subpar experience.
You can’t go wrong with the pot pie
Highly recommend

Can’t speak on atmosphere or service as I’ve never been here. Had a burger brought home twice though. For the second time just a bad burger. Patty seems to be a pre patty frozen burger. So pink inside both times it’s cold. And the owner like to respond badly to all his bad reviews but you can save it pal. Idc what you got to say back.

Overall, I like this restaurant. I might have just caught them on a slow, off night. I’ve heard great things so maybe my expectations were high. I wanted to get the Reuben egg rolls but this night I was by myself so I had to pass. Figured I’d go big and order the 16 oz ribeye with baked potato and green beans. It also came with a nice roll with some of that brown sugar butter. The roll was great. The green beans were also wonderful. The baked potato unfortunately was hard and all the butter, for everything was frozen. The steak was okay. It wasn’t too fatty, but the texture was somewhat stringy. Flavor was okay, like your typical places. It was definitely better than Ponderosa just down the road, but it was no where close to the Scioto Ribber in Portsmouth. Loved that they had Pepsi. It was calibrated perfectly. Pretty cool that they also have a little convenience store with a drive thru. I’m taking home two desserts and they look good. I’ll definitely be coming back with at least my son so we can get those Reuben egg rolls and maybe give the wings a try

Update: I truly love this restaurant, and there are so many things that standout (especially for the area). The service is always 5-star and most of the food is truly as delicious as a fancy restaurant! But, I simply cannot give 5 stars:

– I did try more sauces at the latest visit (see original review below), but I was severely disappointed. However, the ranch is top tier! The Hot Garlic wasn’t spicy and again, tasted more like a vinegary-BBQ than anything else. The Garlic Parm is probably okay, if that’s your go-to.

– I tried the boneless wings and really wanted to love them. The flavor and size suggests fresh cut chicken breasts, but the quality is so poor and chewy. And the breading is chewy rather than crispy or crunchy.

– We tried the Pretzel sticks for the first time, and WOW. Those are worth every penny! They’re so soft and delicious, the beer cheese is the best I’ve ever had!

Original Review: Excellent service & atmosphere! The food is really great, but I strongly dislike most of their homemade sauces so I deducted a star (see below).

The pesto bruchetta is really good, and the closest thing to Bruchetta I can find in this area (so far). Salads are amazing, fried cod is fabulous, the quesadillas are delicious and huge, and their fries are Hillsboro’s best! My bf loves their Rubens and omelets.

The sauces. Oh my. The tarter sauce tastes like sugary, thick mayo. Not a fan. The Buffalo sauce tastes like BBQ sauce with added sugar, zero Buffalo flavoring or spice. The ranch is good, but I’m afraid to try anything else at this point.

The potstickers were really good along with the corn ribs. I had Fish and Chips…. Not traditional they mean potato chips but I ordered the fries which were from the bag crinkle cut fries nothing exciting. The fish was good but to me lacking flavor of a good fish and chip dinner. My wife had the fish sandwich with Mac and cheese. She felt the same about the overall flavor, the batter was light and crispy which she really likes. Tartar sauce was too sweet for our liking. My wife enjoyed the butter pecan toffee cookie skillet she said delish!!! Loaded with ice cream and caramel it was a hit for her. I tried the peaches and cream cobbler and to me it was a crisp/crumble not so much cobbler in the traditional batter style topping. Possibly will try again in the future trying some other dishes. The overall restaurant is a nice clean place and friendly staff.

A hidden gym in Highland County. Staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating with no wait. Fish and chips were great and the peach cobbler cheesecake was fantastic. Looking forward to coming back again. *Updated review to 4 stars* Getting harder to justify the price, but still a great spot.

We ordered the chicken buffalo dip for our appetizer. My bf ordered the grilled cheese burger and I believe I ordered Thai butterfly Shrimp. I don’t eat much, so the 5 shrimp were plenty for me but probably wouldn’t be enough for most people. My bf loved the burger. We’ll definitely visit again.
