The food here is solid, though not quite spectacular for the price. I ordered the burger in a lettuce wrap with a side salad, which was nicely done, but the beef itself tasted a bit flat.

I looked up the brand afterward and saw it was 100 percent corn-fed, which explains the flavor. For a $32 burger, I expected it to be grass-fed.

I would definitely come back, but I would try a different dish next time, maybe the omelette.

As for the space, the atmosphere is incredible. The setting feels like a retreat, with serene music, great service, and a calm, thoughtful vibe.

We visited The Pony Room, an upscale, local gem that is tucked away in the Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, for a special dinner. Its high food quality, stunning location, professional service, and extensive wine and liquor selection made it a memorable fine-dining experience.

The lobster nachos were a real treat with sumptuous bites of lobster mixed with a vibrant pico de gallo, guacamole, cheese, and slightly spicy sauce.

The hamachi crudo was so fresh. The dish was brightened by thinly sliced Serrano peppers, shiso leaves, and a well balanced ponzu sauce that complemented the fish.

The brussel sprouts with bacon were a bit heavy and sweet alongside a main entree. I would opt for a lighter side dish next time, if pairing it with one of their hearty main entrees.

The jumbo Baja shrimp cocktail was refreshing. It contained six large, meaty shrimps on a bed of crushed ice. It was paired with a nice guacamole and cocktail sauce.

Fresh Kumamoto raw oysters from Washington state were very fresh and cold. Although the oysters came with a fermented hot sauce and a mignonette, they tasted even better when the staff brought out a side of fresh grated horseradish. This brought a nice acidity and spice to the oysters.

The spiced lamb lollipops were served at a juicy medium rare temperature and placed on a healthy smear of tzatziki sauce. The lollipops were topped with a mustard caviar that lent a nice salt and acidity to the lamb.

The decor is rich and warm, with rustic woods, clay roof tiles, white stucco walls, and other accents. The restaurant is set against a beautiful natural backdrop of trees and the night sky. A great place for a romantic date night or special occasion.

Special thanks to our server, Henry, for his attentive and knowledgeable service. His food and drink recommendations were excellent.

It’s like dining at your backyard! But much more than that! Serene, nature, peaceful yet elegant and classy. We went here to celebrate our son’s birthday! It is also a hotel so in case you want to stay sometime. Kind of a higher price point though. But I think you get what you pay for. Just wonderful and beautiful surrounding.
It is our first time here but it probably will be our regular place to go here in Escondido.
We ordered steak, lamp chop, chicken lettuce wrap, lobster tacos. Everything were very delicious. Well, except for the lobster tacos which were so so. Probably can improve if the tortillas were hand made. Or maybe it is, but not something I’d recommend.
Although you must order the bread that was bake to order. It is the focaccia. For $19 we thought it was all worth it.

Parking was valet only. It is complementary if you dine in .

I can’t recommend this place enough!

We went here for brunch this past Saturday for my mom and my aunt’s birthday. I cannot express how amazing our service was! Everyone who worked there was so hospitable and really accommodating and helping us that everything set up and have a really nice celebration. What I like about Pony room and never gets completely full, so they put us in a nice space near the window with a bench next to us where we could put all of our gifts and belongings. I should add there was nine of us! So fairly good size large party. Our server Alex was super tentative to make sure all of us had her water and drinks while waiting on food. We started off with chips and guac and cinnamon rolls. The food was better than I remembered! Definitely one of the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had, they are extra large so definitely order one to share with at least two other people. The chips for the guac were fresh crispy and perfectly salted. We all loved our food as well although we are running out of space from the appetizers. I ordered the prime rib dip, which I hardly made a dent in but took home in a box. Honestly, I love the pony room. It’s such a nice, elegant, and tasteful vibe. The service is 10 out of 10, and so is the food! Great spot for a celebration or just simply coming for weekend brunch! Also valet is complimentary if you’re dining at the pony room!

I didn’t initially see this place was within a gated community, but the security staff were friendly and directed us straight to it. We sat at the bar, and were greeted moments after seating. I ordered the classic Benedict, which I want to replicate at home. So good! We also got the salmon & lox, also very good and fresh. Bar was lively, but not loud. Not too stuffy a place, but I’d go again with friends or family.

Yummy brunch at The Pony Room! We ordered the fried rice Mexicali with lobster and shrimp and the blackened swordfish sandwich with a small Caesar salad. We sat on the dog friendly patio and the service was excellent, always filling our water glasses and very friendly. The restroom also has a changing table. The restaurant is inside a larger spa resort but you can go without staying. Beautiful property and recommend!

There’s a high end, and there is the Pony Room. Located at the Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa. Spanish style central courtyard, terrace and interior bar seating. Service is impeccable. Cayetano from Oaxaca Mexico took good care of us. The food was somewhat innovative and completely excellent. The bar specializes in tequilas and mescals. Well worth the price. Complementary valet parking and they will charge your ev too.

We had a wonderful group luncheon at the Pony Room past Friday. When you arrive you have to park valley. There is no other parking option. The restaurant which is located at the Rancho Valencia resort is beautifully appointed with dining terraces and rooms overlooking lush landscape. There is an inner courtyard with a fireplace if you happen to dine on a chilly night. The staff was very attentive. Our food arrived fast and dirty plates were cleared quickly. The waiter knew the menu pretty well and also made recommendations. The prices are high which is expected from such place and locale. I would recommend rock fish ceviche ( phenomenal) , guacamole, Brussels sprouts, tuna tare tare, lunch trio and Lobster Luie salad.

Whether it’s breakfast in the morning sun or dinner under the stars, each visit offers a perfect combination of exceptional food, thoughtful service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

The culinary team always delivers beautifully prepared dishes, and the staff’s attention to detail ensures every meal feels special. Beyond the daily dining experiences, we also love attending the special events they host — they’re always creative, well-executed, and highlight the unique charm of the property.

The Pony Room consistently exceeds expectations and captures the spirit of true hospitality. It’s a place we return to again and again with joy and appreciation.
