Attended a New Bern Chamber of Commerce after hours and was delighted at the offering The Pointe has.
We sampled several items and they were flavorful and abundant. Amanda, the manager, and the waitstaff were gracious and a joy. From downtown, New Betn, its about 22 minutes. The have fish fries on Fridays, every other Saturday prime rib nights, Thursday night music. There is outdoor seating. Check it out!

Great expectations . . . Great disappointment. Shrimp appetizer was pretty but over cooked rubber and the breadng fell off when you picked it up. My husband’s fish sandwich fell apart and the breading didn’t stay on. I think my chili sat in the fridge for a week. I took about 2 bites of it. When the server took it away, she didn’t ask anything. She had to of noticed that I didn’t eat it. Some guy (I would guess the manager) was going all over the place and loudly schmoozingq. My goal was to get out as quickly as possible but that didn’t happen. We did finally made it out never too return.

This was not the best experience. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the food was mediocre. Fried mushrooms were so well done the batter was dark brown and heavy on the stomach. The rest of the meal was pleasant, but nothing we would go out of our way for.

The overall experience was lackluster. Very small place and the staff was overwhelmed and I’d say it was 75% capacity. I ordered the fish tacos and was very very disappointed. The Mahi was over cooked and lacked flavor. The white taco shell was stale. The home made chips tasted like dirty oil. Our cheese block appetizer was over cooked as well, they came out dark brown and bitter tasting. Worst of all my wife’s water and my sweet tea tasted like pool/hose water. The portions do not match the pricing. Will not return.

My family and I are staying in New Bern this week and were told by a local that The Pointe would be open on Thanksgiving. We decided we would call to see if they were still open around 5:30 and Ben answered the phone and informed me that they were already closed. After a brief conversation I thanked him and hung up. A few minutes later Ben called back and said for me to come over to the restaurant as he and his wife were still there cleaning up from the day and had more than enough food left for us to get dinner. My son and I drove over and Ben and his wife had gotten everything out and let us make to-go boxes. When it came time to leave they wouldn’t let us pay even though I tried. We were looking to grab just a quick bite, burgers and fries maybe, but ended up with the most wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. The food was beyond amazing and everyone ate until they couldn’t anymore because it was so good. My kids even started planning next year’s Thanksgiving just to come to The Pointe! I can not thank Ben and his wife enough for what they did tonight and will definitely make sure to visit whenever I am in the area. Great food, great people! Thank you again!

Visited The point restaurant again this year when we were down on vacation how to say how disappointing the experience was.. we come down every year. And there could not be a bigger difference between this year and last year… It is not warm and welcoming anymore.. the food was horrible

Last night, we ventured out of our usual area and decided to try The Pointe in Fairfield Harbour. The food was wonderful AND best of all was the customer service! It was simply amazing. Rick Hawkins was welcoming and attentive as was the chef Melissa.
We were unaware it was a buffet Christmas night but the chef allowed us to order off the menu despite having the buffet in the middle of the room. We booked a reservation on ‘ google’. They couldn’t reach out to us to inform us it was a buffet. So they did THE BEST customer service and gave us the regular menu. Kudos to Rick, Melissa and the entire staff for their kindness and awesome customer service.
A funny sidebar for us, we became ” the Google People” to the staff at first because I think they don’t get reservations through Google a lot! However, they quickly learned our names!!
People in New Bern should give The Pointe a try. The food is terrific AND the way you are treated is STELLAR!!

We arrived in New Burn late and didn’t think we would be able to find any food. I took a chance and called the point they were like. Sure, come on in. We’ll cook you something. This was at 8:00 at night. I figured the kitchen was closed. Boy was I wrong. This place was absolutely fantastic. The owners went out of their way to make sure that everybody was happy. I couldn’t have walked away with a bigger smile on my face. The pork chop was second to none. If you’re on the other side of the bridge, I would certainly recommend this restaurant. Excellent fish Friday dinner, nice big piece of broiled haddock, fries and coleslaw (you can ask for more coleslaw). Fast, friendly staff. Nice view too. Club sandwiches, cuban, salads good too. What’s not to like, good prices, good portions.
