The pizza at Pizza Joint is seriously top-tier, and the front-of-house team really did try to be understanding. Unfortunately, when I politely asked the chef if I could get a fresher slice of the exact same pizza, he just told me to go get my pizza somewhere else if I wasn’t happy. I even snapped a quick picture just to capture the moment because it was that surprising. So while the front staff was kind and tried to help, the chef’s attitude significantly took away from the overall experience. Great pizza, just be aware the service can be hit or miss.

I cannot believe I have not reviewed this stupendous, amazing, gastrodelicious Mt Everest of pizza. To call it pizza is too simple. This pizza is complex and complementary in every way. The brightness of the sauce to the flavor of the crust is magical! I ate at over 20 pizza places in Rome and Florence. All I could dream about was the pizza here. When I visit I order one of everything. If I have guests I order 2. Nevada City is a quaint and lovely town with excellent humans and community owned businesses. However my North Star is The Pizza Joint. They have my highest recommendation. Superb!

Fantastic pizza at this little hole in the wall shop in Nevada City. I wasn’t expecting the pizza to be so good but it definitely exceeded my expectations. Got a slice and ate it on the bench out front of the shop. Highly recommend if you’re hungry in the area and want a quick slice.

I’m a local but I finally made my way over here and they did pizza justice!! This food was delicious from the first bite – I got a Great-Grandma, New Yorker and Maui Wowwie to try a few. 10/10 would come again.

As a pizza snob, must say that the Pizza Joint slices are magically delicious. I love everything about going in there. The friendly staff, the fun standing only to eat in, and the fun to take a slice or two out and find a nice spot in dt Nevada City to enjoy it.
Having eaten pizza all over the globe, I’d stack their pizzas against any of the greats I’ve had, and when I’m craving pizza, I go there for the Valley (and they add dollups of ricotta for me). Yummy!!!
We have many great pizza joints in this county – we are so lucky!

Yummy pizza! I ordered a Grandma slice, for $7.50, and a side of ranch for an additional $.75. It filled me up. I was pleased to have such a tasty, savory meal for under $10!

Great pizza. Watch out for the hidden fees. I spent over $100 and they wouldn’t give us plates without an extra charge. Also I was auto charged 15% gratuity and had no idea until I was done paying. Would’ve been cool to be given a heads up before I paid. Made me scared to ask for peppers or cheese. $$$$$

This is legit good pizza. A solid 7.8 if it were in New York. But for a small town like ours, it’s a 9.4! And you cannot help but love the gals and guys who work here. Pizza Joint rules!!

I’m going to drop a star because sometimes we get amazing service staff, but other times folks put us on hold for a few minutes, someone points out phone off hook, and then says they never ever cut pizza in squares (except for the 10 other times I’ve ordered from them). I asked individual to double check with staff and was told I know who it is and they don’t like to. Well, OK. It’s not the first time they’ve just put me on hold and forgotten about the phone either.
Delicious new york style pizza that is arguably the best food in Nevada City. Place is very popular so make sure to call on advance. Pepperoni and Sausage toppings were really good and staff was friendly. Yumm

Honestly, the best pizza I’ve had in Grass Valley or Nevada City. They’ve got fluffy, tasty crust and tomato sauce that doesn’t taste like a can. (The bar is low for small town pizza).
However, I’ve been twice now and the service was subpar each time. The first time someone at least greeted us, but the next time, later in the evening, an employee actually scolded/berated the person I was with for requesting a box “too late” and causing the employee to have to waste some paper plates.
In order to prevent this from happening to other customers, I’d recommend training your employees to ask customers if they are eating in or to go while they are placing their order.
Other than the subpar and mediocre service, it’s a decent slice of pizza for a decent price.
*also avoid the brownies (extremely dry + hard).
Update: Went back a third time and got raw sausage on a pizza. Won’t be back for a few months until they get some qualified staff/staff that doesn’t serve raw meat.
