A few months ago, my wife and I went back to our home towns visiting friends and family in Charleston, West Virginia, and the surrounding areas. We visited our favorite old restaurants, and we found some really awesome new ones, including “The Pitch”. The atmosphere included an awesome view of the playing fields, a bar with the ingenious cooling system to keep your desired beverage cooled, and lots of rustic up-cycling of materials original to building. This establishment is operated by young entrepreneurs with old souls and an excellent pallet for understanding the wants and needs of hungry fans and patrons. We tasted brussels sprouts with a flavor that was definitely missing from my childhood. Who likes brussels sprouts, I ask you. We also enjoyed burgers, homemade chips encrusted with a heavenly sprinkle of Pitch Dust, Sandwiches, and Salads, not to mention a huge list of beers on tap.
Not only was the food delicious, you felt right at home here. Emerson, our waitress, was undeniably the best waitress to ever serve food to us, along with co-workers Kobe and sous chef Bishop. They were proud of the food they were serving and knew we were enjoying it (empty plates tell their own story). This was true of all staff who served us during our adventures. Needless to say, we went back several times during our stay. We enjoyed the experience so much, we can’t stop talking about it and, are now in the process of making a few more return trips to this establishment in the very near future.
Thank You Guys for a Great Experience!

The Pitch offers convenient online ordering, which is definitely appreciated. For this visit, an order was placed for their Crustless PB&J sandwich, fries, and a cheese topping that included pimento, bacon, and chives.
Unfortunately, arriving at the restaurant at 8pm in early October presented a surprising challenge: the entrance to Shawnee Park was completely unlit, and the stairs leading to The Pitch also had minimal lighting. Navigating the entrance in the dark was frustrating, and this could be a serious deterrent for guests visiting after sunset or for the first time.
The Crustless PB&J sandwich did not arrive as described—it had crusts and wasn’t as impressive as anticipated. However, it was served warm, which added a comforting touch to the experience. While the sandwich did not stand out compared to others, it was still decent. The real star of the meal was the fries with cheese, pimento, bacon, and chives, which were delicious, flavorful, and a highlight worth mentioning.
Despite these ups and downs, the overall meal was satisfying, though not compelling enough to warrant a repeat nighttime visit unless more lighting is installed at the entrance and stairs. The Pitch still holds a special place when it comes to their pizzas, which consistently impress and remain a favorite. For anyone considering a visit, going during daylight hours is highly recommended for a smoother and safer experience, and the fries are a must-try!

Great menu selection. I had the street tacos with chicken and their house made chips. My husband had a burger and fries. We enjoyed our meals and would definitely recommend and we will return as we have many times. Service is great. Give them a try.

Ordered the boneless wings and this is what is served for 12$. Unsure what happened in the kitchen but this is one of the worst quality boneless wings I’ve had for a sports bar and such few given for 12$. Will never be ordering the boneless wings again. Have had good experiences in the past which is the only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1.

Very much enjoyed the meal here. Can’t wait to go back. Got the Detroit Style pizza and it was excellent. Toppings all the way to the edge with that crispy, almost burnt cheese!!! My wife opted for traditional style and it was also very good. Tried Pepperoni balls an wings as an appetizer and loved it!! Good selection of beer and the service was top-notch! Highly recommend this place for pizza.

The Pitch is a great restaurant located in Institute, WV. Conveniently right by Shawnee Park, the restaurant has a lot of convenient parking available. They have a sports bar-type vibe with a reasonably priced menu full of delicious options. The pizzas and burgers are awesome. The appetizers like the pretzel bites, the pepperoni balls, the waffle fries, and the Pitch chips are delicious. You really can’t make a bad decision here. Everyone should try The Pitch at least once!

We’ve gotten several meals from The Pitch and everything we’ve tried has been very good and a good value. The Cornfused corn fritters are a favorite, and all of their sandwiches have been great as well. With how good their sandwiches are, make sure you don’t miss out on the pizza. The crust and toppings used here are all very flavorful and well cooked. I’m glad they seem to be doing well as they are opening a second location in Kanawha City. Great place.

We visit the Pitch about once every 2 weeks and it’s always a great meal. We had one bad experience but they immediately resolved the issue and replaced all the food in question. The Pitch is probably one of the most consistent and delicious food options around. They also have a great selection of beer to choose from.

Today was our first time at The Pitch! We are overly impressed!! The atmosphere was nice, to start and we ordered two apatizers and a meal each and the food met out expectations and beyond. And where can you go and have your choice of house chips, waffle fries or pork rinds… what… true story!!! One last thing, our servers were dolls!! All I can say is, WE WILL BE BACK! ( I forgot to say the bar had an “ice bar” to set your drink on to keep it cold!)

Giving the food a 3 because my usual order is the bomber and it’s incredible. Today i decided to try out the new brunch menu. I got the eggs, bacon and toast. The eggs were awful. Im surprised they even served them. Toast was meh, and the bacon was so done it crumbled apart when I tried to pick it up. Also, the potatoes tasted like they were frozen in a bag. The service continues to get worse. Having to wait for 10-15 minutes just to pay is crazy. This will likely be my last visit, especially since they don’t even open for lunch during the week anymore.
