If Cafe 13 is not on the juror lunch list, it should be.
I walked from SouthEnd a few times to eat here. I have shared this spot with several colleagues from my office.
Wishing you the best !
The food? Absolutely delicious—hot, fresh, and full of flavor. My friends and I cleaned our plates with zero hesitation! The atmosphere of the café is cozy and welcoming, but what stood out the most was the exceptional service. You can truly feel the love and effort poured into every detail.
If you’re looking to support a small Black-owned business that values community, quality, and experience, Café 13 is a must-visit!
The good: it’s clean, it’s cute, love the aesthetic. The eggs were perfect.
The needs improvement:
It’s hard to find. There are no outside markers or signage.
The service: the woman who was upfront was on the phone on a personal call. She seemed irritated that I interrupted her to put in an order. She had no warmth at all.
Everything is served on paper plates and plastic silverware. Your napkins are a roll of paper towels on the tables.
The same woman who took the order kept carrying on her phone call touching everything without washing her hands.
The cook wasn’t wearing real shows. He had on socks with shower slides.
The food was on par with Cracker barrel/ Denny’s
The pancakes were certainly made with a box mix. The syrup is prepackaged Smuckers corn syrup. Overall it’s okay, but not the best around.
