Situated right after the entrance, this little but spacious cafeteria has just what you need to refresh or refuel on a day at the garden. They have a pizza oven, hot Cuban sandwiches and lattes.
There is seething in the dining room, and in the back tent. You can also stop in to grab a drink on the way to the conservatory. Just don’t bring it inside.

Can’t beat the convenience! We enjoyed a beautiful fall visit to the garden and just needed to sit down and refuel. Found a yummy salad and a shady table to sit. Very busy and a little chaotic, but so many options. Nice to see vegetarian options, but would love to see better vegetarian protein options. Thanks for taking care of us!

Even on a busy day, the Pine Tree Café provides good food and quick service. The premade salads are delicious and fresh, coming in half a dozen varieties at least. Custom made fare also an option. Good portion sizes. New York prices. Service cheerful if not a bit to thorough. A wide variety of drinks. Did wonder why the attendant restocking during the lunch rush was fussing over the precise positioning of every bottle. Was told that yes, people do buy the red wine in a can.

Service is awful in the coffee/pastry section. Ordered a few drinks and pastries and waited on the side for the latte we had ordered. After seeing a group after us receive their drinks, I questioned where the latte was. After asking where my drink was, he rudely remarked that the group was there first. They were, in fact, not, and there were two groups after me, in which I explained to him, only for him to rudely say he “knows because he’s the one who checks out the orders”. Since I had plenty of time to wait and focus fully on the orders (the phone was low on battery), I noticed there was never any communication between the baristas taking the orders and making the drinks. The barista in the back was just listening to folks’ orders without communicating with each other, so whether he hadn’t heard our order of latte amongst our order of croissant, Christmas tree cookie, cheese danish, hot chocolate, latte, and drip coffee is uncertain to us. After asking where my latte was, seeing many other espresso drinks being given out, the one in front is practically yelling at me for a simple question: Where is my drink? The group behind us had already received their order: a cappuccino with an extra shot, a latte, and an americano. His outrage at my asking made me flabbergasted. HIs condescending tone of saying he was in fact correct and that his hand gesture of checking his imaginary notepad is not wrong.
The review above is for the barista working on 2025-12-20 in the morning, between 11am and 12pm. The barista in the back was diligent, but the one in the front would benefit from a customer service class, perhaps not yelling at customers for asking where their order is, a good starting point.
Overall, bad service and below-average Lattes. Deterred us from going back to the botanical gardens again.

A convenient spot for a quick bite! It’s located right at the entrance and has two different places to order from; a little coffee place and the café. The sandwiches are pretty good and they will warm them up if you ask. They also have soup, pizzas, salads, drinks, chips, and cookies.
There is a good amount of seating both inside and on the outdoor covered patio.

Very underwhelming… I ordered a warmed caprese sandwich and was completely forgotten about. After about 30 minutes I asked about my sandwhich as everyone that ordered after me had already gotten their meal, and the employee admitted she forgot about my order. In total, I spent $41 for 2 people=2 sandwhiches and 2 sodas. It wasn’t worth it at all in my opinion, you would be better off getting food near the botanical garden before heading in.

The Pine Tree Cafe is a great quality restaurant at the New York Botanical Garden that offers guests wonderful meals at reasonable prices.
When visiting the New York Botanical Garden in January of 2022, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at the Pine Tree Cafe.
I purchased a pizza pie for both my wife and myself and we both found it to be well seasoned, tasty and delicious!!!
In light of the COVID 19, the Pine Tree Cafe also made sure that its table and seats were appropriately distanced from each other and its hand sanitizers were readily accessible.
All in all, both my wife and I very much enjoyed our time and experience at the Pine Tree Cafe!!!

Loved the fresh oven fired pizza, I love this style of pizza, crust is thin and there is a generous amount of sauce and toppings. I was really hungry so I thought it was delicious. I also got a sandwich which was not quite as good it needed more time in the oven to heat up but it was alright.

Came here after the Orchid Show and they have a ton of assortments of baked goods, sandwiches, pizzas, pre-made sandwiches, and also a build-your-own salad. I got the Cuban Sandwich and the MeatLover pizza and they tasted pretty good.
