New Year’s Eve, the Hotel Roanoke was packed with people ready to celebrate and enjoy a good meal. I ordered my food in advance so I could pick it up and take it home to enjoy with my family. The food was absolutely phenomenal! The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection as was the shrimp and side items. The fried cauliflower blew my socks off with the sweet chili sauce. Overall, the whole meal was beautifully prepared and neatly packed with care for my trip. Shoutout to the cooks: Ray, Aaron, Bratton, Bryce and Mary Grace. You guys are awesome!

Very nice staff and great service. Salad was absolutely amazing in both appearance and taste. Very filling and full of flavor. The burger was a bit dry and over cooked as I had ordered it medium. Could have used more of their sauce on it. Fries were great however.

Quality hotel. Very nice. I didn’t eat at the pine room just ate at the bar. Same food maybe a little more exclusive in the pine room. Great food nonetheless

The experience was fantastic! Chef Alexis prepared the menu with a few revisions, and everything we had was delicious. Our server, Penny, was super helpful and knowledgeable, and she took very good care of us. Will definitely keep coming back!

A beautiful and classy restaurant. We celebrated our anniversary, my husband and I enjoyed the food and service. Ashley was our host, and she was very nice and had answers to every question. The food was clean and very delicious and the prices were reasonable compared to their excellent service. We had a beautiful day and a special dinner.

We visited The Pine Room restaurant for my birthday dinner celebration while in Roanoke, and it was well worth it! The service was friendly and extremely helpful with recommendations on the menu. We tried the “Squirrel…interrupted” cocktail, which was creamy and interesting! The Bone-in Ribeye was absolutely delicious. My wife loved the shrimp & scallop risotto. We had the Warm Garlic Bread pimento cheese dip to start, which we could not have enough of. What a suprise it was to have our server bring out an incredible, complimentary piece of fresh cheesecake with strawberry & chocolate glaze on a silver platter for my birthday celebration!

It was completely worth the visit. Thank you!

I would avoid this restaurant on busy days. One of our family members salads came out after her main course arrived. Two family members meals didn’t show up because the waitress forgot to order them and so we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for their meals while everyone else was eating. No compensation or apologies were offered. The dining room manager never came to our table to apologize for the poor experience. Also, most of the food that was served was very cold. This restaurant is very expensive for most of the dinner meals but the food quality and the service did not nearly meet how much money we paid for dinner

Always reliable for good food and a great atmosphere. The drinks are always top notch! Service can be great or mediocre depending on who you get. The pork shank, the burgers, and the falafel dishes are among the top entrees in Roanoke.

Four stars, rounding up.
This restaurant was recommended to me by a frequent restaurant goer and food connoisseur. Though he also stated that it isn’t the nicest restaurant in the Hotel Roanoke, I won’t be back here for a meal.
I arrived with the intention of ordering the scallops but after not having a proper breakfast or lunch, the chicken sandwich with strawberry pepper jam and fries sounded much more hearty on a bitterly cold winter day. I should have stuck with my plan and retrospectively, I feel as though the server tried to warn me by saying, “but you can get a chicken sandwich anywhere”.
I was surprised to see my sandwich arrive, splayed open so beautifully but brazenly revealing a small, dark piece of meat that was grossly disproportionate to the bun, lettuce, three tomato slices and abundant onion. Too bad I didn’t grab that photo but a side salad with a piece of fried chicken accidentally dropped in would have been a better description. The chicken was small and over cooked, which rendered it unpleasantly hard on the outside and dry on the inside. I let the server know that I intended on eating the rest of my sandwich but my disappointment in my choice.
The server returned shortly after to share that the chef said she had not received any other complaints. I pointed out that the bun was old and completely falling apart on the top and bottom. I asked her to take the chef the rest of my sandwich so she could see what I was served.
The flavor of the white cheddar and the strawberry pepper jam with the overcooked breading of the chicken were not as satisfying as I had hoped either. Also, honey mustard as a standalone dip for fries was fine.
I came home and ate leftover chicken, half of an avocado with plain yogurt and hemp hearts sprinkled on top. I was glad for the protein boost that I had missed that meal and in the day.
Although the sweet tea was hardly sweetened, my son and his date were happy with their meals. However, my son commented that his steak was not quite medium rare as he had ordered and I saw that his asparagus was overcooked. The server noted that she could see that the bun on the mushroom burger we ordered was equally old and falling apart.
The building is classic, the service was fantastic and the cauliflower was perfect. As the server pointed out, restaurant week is a stressful time for the kitchen. Likely, it was my misfortune to arrange a date with so many events occurring in one day, at a single venue.

I have been to Roanoke many times since The ’70s (I turned 10 in 1979). We would drive through every summer when I was growing up to visit an Aunt and Uncle for a few hours on our way from Texas to Southwest Virginia where my grandparents lived. A lot has changed since then but not the mystery I’ve always had about the Hotel Roanoke. I always dreamed of staying there one day. I didn’t get to stay the night there tonight, but thanks to two pharmaceutical reps from Boston Scientific I got a little taste of the good life tonight at The Pine in the Hotel Roanoke. The drinks were delicious, the food was fabulous, and the desserts were delectable . I recently became a board member for the Virginia chapter of APDA (American Parkinson’s Disease Association). I proudly represent Western part of the state of Virginia. I have had young onset Parkinson’s disease since 2011 and I was 42 years old. I had an unforgettable, amazing dinner with wonderful new partners to help me with educating, mentoring, and having resources available for PWP and their Care partners in a part of the state that desperately needs it! Our server was wonderful! We closed the place down. She said she was about to fall asleep on the couch. Lol! She said the new seasonal menu comes out in 5 days. I’m definitely going to go online and check it out. I can’t afford to go, but maybe on my next birthday
