It is good to see The Phoenix Bar and Grill reopen after being closed for a long time ! The new seat coverings look great and feel even better ! I had the spaghetti and meatballs and they were good but not great . Garlic toast was very good ! You get three meatballs with your spaghetti so there was plenty for a meal. The fish and chips were okay ; the fish was kind of square like it came from a frozen block . Reviews were pretty good for the fish and the onion rings are handmade which is a good thing ! Overall , The Phoenix is a good place to go for food and atmosphere and it def will be a go to place again !

I called ahead for something vegetarian for lunch and they suggested a veggie stir fry. The meal was terrific and the vegetables were cooked to just the right crispness for my taste. But what struck me most was the atmosphere of the restaurant’s interior. It was inviting and friendly and felt like it could be “homey” enough to tuck oneself in a corner and enjoy a meal alone or share some cheer with friends in one of the more open areas. The decor was fun too with vintage signs and licence plates tacked to the wall. I felt very comfortable there and would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend!

Ordered 2 dishes 1 appetizer and 4 beers almost 100.00. Seafood was overcooked, and loaded fries just looked like they threw a piece of cheese on it and some bacon pieces. Presentation and food taste wise was stellar at best. I personally liked it there before they closed..I don’t think we will back now that it has reopened. Such a shame too.

I see mixed reviews here, but here’s what I think. This place is one of the only places open at night in Ayer, and if this place hadn’t re-opened, my visits to Ayer would’ve been limited to hotel bars and pre-purchased dinners from gas stations. What a lonely nightmare Ayer would’ve been! Phoenix brings live music and nightlife to this small town, and if you’re applying Michelin rating standards on a bar with expectations like cheap price, a full bar, and live music, clearly you’re rating this place unfairly. For a bar, I think it has very appropriate menu and atmosphere, and their food is always great! I would definitely come back here, mingle with nice locals, and expect to have a great time.

The Phoenix is an amazing restaurant! Warm, friendly and welcoming. The people who work there are awesome especially Richard, the super friendly Host! The food is terrific, and the prices are very reasonable! Don’t miss this wonderful family atmosphere dining experience. The bar and band are lots of fun, too!

This was probably one of the more unique restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long while and honestly it took a bit to collect my thoughts to figure out how I was going to write the review. This place definitely has a very unique vibe to it and I don’t think I resonated with it. The first thing that caught me off guard was the dog free roaming the restaurant, and don’t get me wrong I love animals and the dog was super well behaved but having a dog wandering the dining area of a restaurant can be off-putting for a lot of customers especially if they have allergies or are afraid of dogs. The second thing, would be the free popcorn- I appreciated the gesture but it was incredibly bland and borderline stale. Third thing, was the guy that I’m presuming has something to do with the management of the restaurant, I felt like I was being watched by a hawk for the entirety of my time in the restaurant especially when I was eating. The Fourth thing- the bagpipes, when we first arrived the restaurant was incredibly quiet with no music playing, which is alright but about 10 minutes before we left there was some pretty loud bagpipe music and that was a pretty odd and extreme mood shift.

I was slightly afraid after looking at the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was delicious, the service was great and very reasonably priced.

I got a Lazy Lobster, and a lobster bisque. I gave the food a three-star rating because the lobster was slightly overcooked and the breading on top is a little bit burnt
