Took my sister to A Perfect Caper for her birthday dinner. It was wonderful! Our server Melissa was great. We had the fresh focaccia to nibble on with our wine. Entrees were fantastic! They come with the sides as one chef-prepared dish, though additional sides and ala carte items are available. We had the Pig and Fig Jam pork chop and the duck two ways. Both were fantastic. A side of shaved Brussels sprouts was tasty. We took dessert to go because we couldn’t eat another bite but the Birthday cake special looked so good, we couldn’t leave without it (no pic). It did not disappoint. Highly recommend this place. Prices are on point for quality, portion, and service.

Truly exceptional. First time here and completely blown away.

The service was impeccable, ask for Bobby. His knowledge, recommendations, and explanations of the dishes elevate the entire experience.

Gabriel (manager or owner) personally stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect, which speaks volumes about this place.

The food is outstanding the Halibut fish special is an absolute must.
If I could give five stars plus, I would ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐➕

First time dining here. We are fortunate to have this type of excellent food nearby. All of us enjoyed our dishes. The deserts were out of this world. The service was very well timed. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Perfect Caper and look forward to returning.

Had my first experience Tuesday night. The cocktail was wonderful, the tomato and mozzarella salad was to die for especially with the cheese wrapped in prosciutto. I didn’t love the mushroom pappardelle, I found the flavor to be a little bland and not enough sauce/maybe it wasn’t thick enough to cover all the noodles. The chocolate bread pudding was pretty good.

I know they’re known for their steaks , lamb, and seafood so I definitely want to go back and try it out.

Fun fact: They also have a sister restaurant in Westerly, Rhode Island

The exterior of the building is unassuming and hides a true gem of a restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. We had a great time even with a but of a wait for our food. Very quality, and definitely a great setting for a nice dinner.

I was visiting Port Charlotte for a work trip and stumbled upon this restaurant. We were fortunate to sit in the front of the restaurant and observe the Chef working the pass and it was pretty fun to see so many employees smiling. The Uruguayan gentlemen made me feel like if I was back home at a family dinner. Stacy was our waitress and she was very attentive and provided some great recommendations. I saw the Chef walk out guest and thanked them for coming and she even paid a visit to our table to just chat with us. I try to experience a Michelin Restaurant every couple months because I am fascinated by the world of Chefs and while this restaurant may not have a star I would give them one if I could. Thank you if I am ever back in Punta Gorda I will be coming back.

My favorite restaurant that I’ve been to in Florida.

Do not let the exterior fool you. It looks unassuming and bland on the outside. When you get inside, the atmosphere is intimate without any harsh lighting. It isn’t too pretentious and also isn’t too modern looking. The booths feel private and I love that. Open kitchen so you can watch the staff cook and serve if you get a good seat.

The staff has always been attentive, warm, and polite without being intrusive or robotic (shout out to our server Bobby today).

I have been here 4 times and I’ve pushed off reviewing The Perfect Caper because I’ve always been so excited to eat the beautifully plated food that I forget to take decent pictures.

The food is at a level above anything I’ve had in the area. The food is interesting without obnoxiously trying to go out of its way to be different. The duck and steak is wonderful, the fish has always been great, and the scallops are perfect. As far as style, it feels like classical French with some east Asian influence.

I can’t afford a place like The Perfect Caper super often but anytime a loved one who has an appreciation for good food visits I will take them here. It’s a very special place. Especially for the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area where it’s mostly chains or restaurant conglomerates that just want to make the most money with the least amount of effort.

Pictured are the duck a deux facons (duck two ways) and a snapper special with lemon, frisee, and potato cake. Both were wonderful. Great complex but balanced cocktails as well.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I’d apologize for gushing over this place, but it’s well deserved.

I sat at the bar and ate dinner. The Curry Mussels we’re as good as advertised and recommended. They were perfectly preferred. The Crabby Scallops were also exceptional. The apricot beurre blanc was magical. Perfectly balanced and silky.

The bartenders were fantastic, just a great team. Jacob and the other young lady (I’m sorry to say I forgot her name) we’re friendly and were extraordinarily attentive, all while deflty handling the a busy bar.

Thank you for the great evening. When I return to the area I will be back.

Phenomenal, each & every time! Pictured in order are The Fried Mushroom, Calamari, Crabcake, Burger of the Day (all from today), then A Warm Goat aside The Fried Mushroom and Seared Scallops (from 01/2024)
Today was my mom’s birthday & we’ve been here before but this was our first lunch experience. We had Amanda, who executes her service with incredible kindness, knowledge, and sincerity. That’s vital, to have a server who is Sincere. She’s not going to sell you anything based on dollar signs! You’d do yourself a solid to ask for her.
Let’s talk food! The Fried Mushroom is something I get every time…it’s not breaded! It’s flash fried, served over whipped goat cheese, drizzled with balsamic & olive oil, s & p, & accompanied by delightful toast points & arugula. You must try it!!!! The calamari exceeds any calamari I have ever had in any other restaurant. The spicy sweet chili sauce is outstanding! The batter is light and the combination of flavors is exquisite. We each got the burger of the day…today served with a bacon mayo, red peppers, provolone cheese as well as a side of frites. They have the best frites ever! I had those first because they don’t heat up very well. I tried to work on the burger—it’s HUGE! My mom ate about half of hers, but I have also gotten an à la carte crabcake. Love the à la carte options! You can add a scallop or a crabcake or shrimp. I couldn’t choose between the crabcake and the burger, so it worked fab, as that crabcake is delectable beyond measure! Guess what?! It’s also Gluten free!!! The roasted red pepper lemon butter—oh my God I could eat it with a spoon! We didn’t get dessert today because we have the Birthday Cake they make already. It’s on their special’s menu this week & you’ll not ever have anything finer.
Amanda made sure we were well cared for and Gabe, the manager, checked on us several times, wishing my mom a happy birthday. Love them both!
Let’s talk about the atmosphere. It’s very understated and simple. I personally love it. It’s quite comfortable and I can focus on just enjoying the culinary adventure laid before me, which isn’t that what going to a fine dining establishment should really be about? We sat in a lovely booth, which was comfy as can be, very quiet, and, like I said, just simple. I have a relative in the music industry so here’s my analogy: he always said the more trucks and equipment a band takes, the more they are trying to “wow” you with something other than their musical abilities. In my opinion, a restaurant is not much different! Decor can definitely add something but in my opinion, it’s not necessary to be over the top when you have over the top food. The Perfect Caper does in fact have food that consistently exceeds expectation.
This is the best food that I’ve had in southwest Florida. Consistently.
The Perfect Caper makes my tail wag, each and every time.
