I like the classic Beverly Hills steakhouse energy with old-school service here. The seafood tower was a show and the steak arrived sizzling hot. Staff was dialed in and attentive all night. Great for celebrations or special occasions, expect a busy room and valet out front. Would happily come back again.

I have been to many of the Mastro’s locations in many states, some multiple times at the same place and even though the brothers who founded it now operate the Steak 48 franchise I still find that Mastro’s has high-quality steaks and overall great service. I am happy to report after trying The Penthouse, I can confirm that is still true. This Beverly Hills location is one of the prettier Mastro’s locations inside and out. Downstairs is the general restaurant and on the top floor is what they call The Penthouse which has a little bit more of a romantic and intimate feel to it and accessed by a private elevator. They have tons of different seating options from indoor to outdoor, private to not. They offer valet right in front however we were able to find a metered spot directly across the street, otherwise the public parking garage across the street offers 2 hours of free parking.

Our server was extremely polite and even though the price is considerable, I feel it is worth it. We started off the meal with the Roasted Bone Marrow which was fantastic. It was actually three large pieces so the portion size is pretty large, it would definitely be enough for two people to share. We also ordered the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio and enjoyed it. However, I think Prime steak is better for carpaccio than Wagyu because Wagyu is almost a bit too tender to the point where it’s almost soggy. The flavors were very good, but the texture was a little bit off. Next came the Chopped Wedge Salad and that was a real hit. It was really light and a good mix with the meat. For my entrée, I chose the 12oz Filet Mignon and opted not to get the bone-in even though that’s what I usually order. The steak was cooked perfectly and I just really enjoyed it. We chose the White Cheddar Mac n Cheese and the French Fries as sides, both were good but the fry portion was huge, enough for 4 people to share.

Overall Mastro’s is always consistently a really good dinner and a great place for a celebration, a special meal, or a great date option. I would recommend and would say that it’s one of the better steakhouses in LA.

The oysters, steaks and butter cake were delicious! We also really enjoyed the outdoor seating in the penthouse and the music playing. Mastros is definitely our go-to for prime steaks and seafood.

A Valentine’s Day to remember! My wife and I have wanted to dine at Mastro’s in Beverly Hills for quite awhile and tonight we finally made it. We ate at their restaurant in Las Vegas a few months ago and had a great time but this was next level. We actually ate upstairs at The Penthouse at Mastro’s. Wonderful vibe with views of the city but more importantly, excellent service by Hannah and Jose’. Apparently, Hannah’s a mind reader because just as I was thinking I needed my champagne glass topped off, Hannah was there doing just that. Donna ordered the jumbo prawns and usually she’s happy to share. However, after she took a bite I could see in her eyes that sharing her prawn was not on her agenda but since it was Valentine’s Day she graciously let me try a few bites. I soon realized her reluctance. By far the best prawns I have ever tasted. Seasoned and sautéed to perfection. We shared a 12 oz. Filet Mignon and lobster mash potatoes and their version of a caprese salad. No notes. The steak was very tender, cooked perfectly (medium rare) and served on a very hot plate to keep the meat warm until the last bite. The peppercorn sauce was tasty too. Of course we had to try their signature dessert, a warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream and a mound of whipped cream on the side. We got a glimpse of heaven tonight!

Isaac was hands down one of the best waiters we’ve ever had. From the moment we sat down, he made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared that we had an amazing experience. His menu knowledge and recommendations were spot-on, his timing was perfect, and his energy just made the whole night better. You can tell he truly loves what he does and takes pride in giving exceptional service. He turned a great dinner into a truly memorable one. Ask for Isaac — you won’t be disappointed!

Service and food were both fantastic. Wait staff knows the menus and options cold and we’re very attentive. Oysters were fresh and delicious, great wine choices, steaks and sides prepared very well. Only complaint was that the music was unnecessarily loud. That made conversation a bit more difficult. Otherwise, exceptional.

Great restaurant if you’ve never been to a great restaurant.

I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I actually just escaped to the bathroom to leave this review because I’m so unimpressed with my experience here. I share this not to be a hater but because I imagine if you’re coming here it’s for a special occasion or a notable meal, and you won’t be getting that at Mastro’s.

We came here for my father-in-law’s 70th birthday, a fact that restaurant knew. Off the bat they had us on our back foot as we booked a table outside but were told they were “fully committed”. Even though we were early, we still had to wait to sit, INSIDE, until ten minutes after our reservation time.

Then? Thirty minutes until we had menus and water. Forty minutes until we had a waitress. Two hours until our food saw the table, and even then it was incomplete.

The staff was friendly, but the management of this place is clearly ill-equipped to prepare for the logistics necessary of managing a restaurant. Don’t bother, a real disappointment.

That said, the butter cake is great.

Also the atmosphere is like a steakhouse in Vegas (pejorative).

Great steakhouse with a classy vibe.

We dined at Mastro’s in Beverly Hills after it was recommended by our friends. We were able to make last-minute reservations, and the restaurant wasn’t too crowded.

We ordered the bread basket for the table and they brought out a fine variety of warm bread that we couldn’t stop eating.

We decided to share the Chef’s Cut New York strip. I thought it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes were also very good (and a huge portion that can be shared between 3 or 4 people).

Our waiter and the staff was very courteous. We ordered dessert after their closing time, and they didn’t rush us at all even though we felt bad for staying late. Speaking of dessert, the Warm Butter Cake was really good.

The restaurant was expensive, but that was anticipated since it’s a nice steakhouse located right in Beverly Hills. A lot of people were celebrating their birthdays there and it looked like the perfect restaurant for a celebration.

I understand that it’s Valentine’s Day and the staff may be overwhelmed, but that’s exactly the reason people go to a place like this. Foolishly, we expect a place like Mastro’s to be able to navigate a high volume without letting exceptional service, and most importantly great FOOD, fall to the wayside. I mean the steak was both well done and rare, how do you even do that? The twice baked potato was 90% cheese, the Mac and cheese was burnt. Overall, the food was terrible, the service was the absolute bare minimum, and everything felt like a gimmick we got scammed into paying money for. We barely touched our food and did not want it for leftovers.

Shrimp cocktail 10/10. They were perfectly plump, fresh, and appropriately priced. The horseradish and cocktail sauce are exquisite. The lobster was also fantastic. Perfectly prepared, pricey, but given the location, fairly priced. The sides were underwhelming. The mac n cheese was oily, separated, and flavorless. The garlic mashed potatoes were very average as well. You get large portions on the sides, but the quality just isn’t there for a restaurant of this caliber. I did enjoy the mojito. It was fresh and strong. The key lime pie was delectable but their “famous” butter cake was very average. I also don’t understand why they serve a heaping bowl of whipped cream with their desserts. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable. No complaints there. The atmosphere is Beverly Hills people that are upper echelon or surely think they are upper echelon. Depending on your opinion of such people, you may either enjoy or detest such company. All that said, I would return for the shrimp cocktail and a mojito.
