Sean Is the Heart of The Penny Pub
After a tough day, I walked into The Penny Pub in Bay Shore just looking for a place to decompress. What I found was more than just a great local spot—it was a reminder that good people make all the difference.
Sean, the bartender, immediately picked up on the fact that I wasn’t having the best day. Without being overbearing, he made me feel welcome, comfortable, and at ease. He struck that perfect balance of conversation and space, and it genuinely helped lift my mood. You can tell he truly cares about the people who walk through the door.
Not only is Sean an excellent bartender—he’s absolutely manager material. The way he runs the bar, keeps everything moving smoothly, and treats everyone with respect and kindness shows real leadership.
It’s rare to walk into a bar and feel better when you leave, not just because of the drinks, but because someone actually made the effort to connect. That someone was Sean.
I’ll definitely be back—and I hope the folks at Penny Pub know just how lucky they are to have him.

have been back many times during the past year since review:
has been solidly providing consistent food & atmosphere wherever we drop in… i still have things i want to try on menu so app rating will remain until i tire of hamburgers & fish ! HOWEVER! they get a 4 heart of 5 personal rating.

Finally tried this pub! Loved it we got a beer and scotch and saw a buch of things to come back and try….. we ordered the fish’n’chips & they did not disappoint. We r definitely coming back… and wish we had just had bruch last Saturday here rather than our choice up the road. I will update my photos after next visit as these are not the best rep of the food…. BUT terrific atmosphere as these capture. Outside seats!

I was just visting NY and it was my first time at this place. I LOVED it! The pumpkin pie martini was amazing as was the food. Seems like anything on the menu is excellent. Bartender was all smiles and great service!

Everyone treats you like family here. It’s such a welcoming place. Everyone from Mike, gabby, Colleen, all the amazing staff and bouncers. Theirs a pool table in the back and they even have a dart league. Two dart areas. Always a good time and good vibe.

I had the most horrifying experience at Penny Pub, and I will NEVER go back. The manager, Mike, walked into the women’s bathroom, of all places, and screamed at us to leave the bar because of a drink that was sitting on the counter—which wasn’t even ours! His tone was incredibly disrespectful, startling, and downright threatening.
As if that wasn’t enough, he followed us out of the bar, slandering our names and being unbelievably mean. I was so shaken by the whole ordeal that I couldn’t stop crying. It was truly horrifying to be treated like that, especially by someone who is supposed to be in charge.
This place has absolutely no class, and the staff is beyond unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend Penny Pub to my worst enemy. Save yourself the trauma and avoid this place at all costs.
