Topeka isn’t a large city so if you’re used to and/or expecting there to be big city vibes like in a metropolitan area this may not be the place for you. However, The Pennant seemed to be the place to be with an arcade upstairs and bowling, a bar and restaurant on the main level. The price is fairly good for what you get i.e. $5/game to bowl or $25/hour. Both prices included shoes and the ball. The food is decent – obviously it won’t be gourmet but it wasn’t terrible; comparable to a Buffalo Wild Wings but just a different menu. They also have shakes which seem to be their signature. There are plenty of flavors to choose from, but these shakes are a little on the higher end price wise ($8 + tax), and most of what you’re paying for seems to be the appearance with a plethora of toppings. However, they are good but my critique would be more shake for the cost.

Visiting Topeka and The Pennant came highly recommended and I know why. I asked the staff recommendations on each section and chose this chicken sandwich which was AMAZING. The fried chicken is not overly breaded and has a great flavor. We went with the regular shakes and they did not disappoint. I’d return in a heartbeat. They also have bowling and old school arcade games. Family friendly and staff handle themselves well even with entitled customers. They were very busy but I still got A+ service! Great job!

Absolutely love everything about The Pennant. Even though we are locals, our family enjoys this restaurant and visit often. The food is always cooked perfectly, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great. We are very thankful to have a place like this at home where we can enjoy delicious food and the kids can play at the arcades while we wait for our food. Definitely makes time go by faster for them!

Very cool atmosphere with four bowling lanes downstairs (you must reserve). Small arcade upstairs as well as a ‘sun room’ by the windows on the front of the building. This place will also periodically do a pop up theme. Such as Harry Potter, star wars, the office… The list goes on. Super cool atmosphere in an old historic building right down town near the capital building. They have an amazing menu and I’ve not been disappointed any time I’ve eaten here.

The Pennant is an excellent restaurant located in the heart of downtown Topeka. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with vintage decor and a friendly staff.

Skee-Ball, bowling and fantastic grub not to mention having Walnut River Brewing on tap?! Is there a way I can just move a sofa into one of the back corners and live here? Two thumbs way up.

Food decent. Our server was great. I didn’t enjoy the way the manager treated my friend (military). Before ordering, she asked if there was a military discount and was told “yes.” When we got the bill, we were told that the discount only applied to the milk shake because the rest of her order was already discounted. So that means that there really isn’t a military discount since she paid the same as everyone else? The manager kept saying the same thing over and over (that the food was already discounted) while speaking louder and louder in order to “emphasize ” that the food was already discounted. Is a “special” on the menu the same as a military discount? Maybe, maybe not. I feel that they should have honored what was told to my friend to begin with. and maybe a simple “thank you for your service” might have been more appropriate than raising her voice.

I didn’t eat or drink here as I was passing through – but I did play pinball. Well, tried to play. One machine was down and the others were all in similar states of dirtiness and disrepair. Ghostbusters has a sticky flipper. I wouldn’t visit again for the pinball – but the dining room was busy.

This is a very unique establishment. Bowling on the 1st floor and an arcade/bar/dining area on the 2nd floor. The decor is centered around Alice in Wondeland which I thought is pretty neat. I ordered the elote burger with cheesy curly fries which was friggin delicious! Server was very attentive and friendly and food came out quick. Definitely recommend visiting this place!
