Charcoal-grilled steaks cut tableside, plus seafood & a salad bar, in a dark, clubby setting.

The Peddler Steak House is my kind of nostalgic steakhouse. Dark ambiance, old-school, straight out of the 1970s mob vibes (Godfather and Sopranos haha) with some nice jazz playing in the background. Prime rib was cooked perfectly, ribeye and salmon were excellent, and the salad bar was a nostalgic win. Not a crazy fancy schmancy kind of place—just great food and service. And if you like a little sauce with your steak, no judgment here. Loved it. I’ve been to Angus Barn and Perry’s and those are just for the ambiance and looks; this place is for the actual food!! I was definitely sleeping on this place and will definitely make this my designated steakhouse spot.

The Peddler has that old school steakhouse vibe. It was our first visit, so we requested that the Peddler come table-side and cut our meat. He offered different amounts of marbling. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the sides were good, and the salad bar was a throwback to the 80s when I went to the Sizzler. The grilled bread had that charcoal flavor. Cocktails were perfectly strong and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was dark, but what I wanted in an old school joint. I wish there had been some throwback jazz playing. The service was phenomenal. The only thing I’d complain about is that you cannot reserve tables for parties under 8, so get there at least 30 minutes before opening if you want to get seated right away. The food is great and the experience is fun, so play your Old School Steakhouse playlist and get in line! You’ll thank me later.

I go here alot but I am terribly disappointed in tonight’s experience. I ordered a steak, well done but not burnt, just no pink. 46 minutes later it arrived as shown in the photo. Not well, no where near being burnt and RED!! It wasn’t even hot! I didn’t send it back because I didn’t want to wait another 46 minutes. Two more tables around me also sent their steak back for being undercooked. I only recognized one server and no one at the front were the usual people. Even the peddler was different – rushed, didnt cut the steaks at the table. I spoke with the manager who apologized but said well done steaks cant be guaranteed. I said I understood that but this steak is far from well and had not on the grill for 46 minutes. I wonder if management has changed or something. This was the quality or experience people are used to and definitely not worth the cost.

I used to frequent Peddler Steakhouse and was always pleased, but tonight was a completely different experience. Things started off fine, but I never received a refill and my porterhouse steak was overcooked plus I had to add salt, which I never do. My server never came back to check on my table at all—I watched her check on every table around me except mine. It got so bad that I eventually had to walk up to the counter just to pay my bill because she never returned. Unfortunately, despite how much I used to enjoy this place, I’ll be taking my business to other steakhouses from now on.

Keyanna was our waitress. She was great. Came here for our anniversary dinner. They don’t take reservations for parties of 2. We were quoted about one hour and 45 mins as a wait time but we got seated in in about an hour and a half. Salad bar comes with entrees and has plenty of options.

I’ve been living in Raleigh for quite some time now and I only recently tried the Peddler. I am kicking myself for not coming here sooner. There aren’t many places like it left in the country. I haven’t had the chance to choose my own cut of steak in a very long time. There’s something magical about seeing the before and after for the piece you pick instead of just seeing the finished product. I feel like it gives such a personal touch.
Old school service – classic salad bar with an entree, reasonably priced glasses/bottles of wine. They are mainly walk in, and the wait varied quite a bit. We were a group of 8 guys and got in after about an hour wait. We all walked out of there after sharing three appetizers, four bottles of wine, and everyone getting their own steak for about $70, which I think is a great price.
The quality of the meat surpasses other steak houses in the area, especially for the price. They grill and season the meat perfectly and they cooked ours exactly to order.
I highly recommend checking this place out with any party size and if you have a last minute get together for a larger group, they can probably accommodate you.

I decided to try Peddler Steakhouse since a friend said she enjoyed going with her husband. It was a spur of moment for Saturday and arrived at 4:30 to see a long line had already formed. The nice hostess, said it would be a 90 min wait. I decided to hang around and she called me in about an hour that my table was ready. Emma, my server, was very attentive and provided excellent service. The salad bar was included with all entrees with a nice variety. The lettuce was rinsed and clean with a tad more water that could wilt if it sat too long. Luckily they brought out a new tray. I ordered the 10 oz ribeye cooked medium with a bake potato and it was delicious. The butter and sour cream for the potato was perfect and I added cheese from the salad bar. I ordered key lime for dessert which was a small round pie with whip cream. It was fantastic. It was a memorable dinner. If plan to visit, they don’t accept reservations and Saturday is pretty busy from 4:30-7. I would come back to try a different entree but will plan for a day during the week.

Ordered 12 oz Ribeye with baked sweet potatoes. Was awesome went there the next day to have it again. Open salad bar. Can request for your steak to be cut in front of you so you can see the marbling. Atmosphere was dark and quiet overall good pick for a date night or just to relax by yourself

I was at this restaurant for the first time tonight celebrating a birthday. From the start the atmosphere was underwhelming for a steakhouse. The table we were sat at was a plastic folding table. Yes. A plastic folding table with a black table cloth overtop. Already for a restaurant where meals range from $25-$50 per person I was extremely agitated. We ordered three different appetizers: the shrimp cocktail, the hot crab dip, and the pimento cheese. The crab dip was so horrible that I could not hid my reaction, nor could a couple of other people I was dining with. The crab dip did not taste like crab, and was sour and fishy. The pimento cheese was served with cheap crackers that ruined the taste. After we finished the appetizer, we had been sitting for about 45 minutes. It was not until a hour after this that we were served our food. This is where it went wrong. Two people ordered strip steaks that were too tough to chew. The four baked potato’s we ordered arrived ice cold. The child’s meal was delivered to us twenty minutes after all of our food arrived and nearly finished our plates. The chop steak was served with no dressings, quite literally just a hamburger patty plain. The three of us who ordered the salmon enjoyed it along with the side of asparagus. Our waitress Emma was amazing, she was caring when we told her about the steaks and potato’s and worked to help us fix it. Overall, for a meal that took nearly two hours to get to us, and when it did, was cold, is unacceptable. An establishment this acclaimed should not be serving meals that are lower satisfaction than I could get at Mcdonald’s.
